New Government Initiative

The Government today has come up with the idea of the future to cut our road toll and put an end to speed cameras and fines. How?

A GPS satellite device that detects when your car is doing over the speed limit and cuts fuel to the engine.

Wat are you going to do when somebody trying to overtake a truck is killed because their engine fuel supply is cut?

The Government simply need to realise that in some circumstances it is necessary to exceed the speed limit and impeeding our ability to do this makes the road a more dangerous place

This idea was raised quite a while ago, and I think every motoring journo in the country shot the idea down in flames. I agree that it has the potential to be dangerous in overtaking situations. And if they did implement this whats to stop them from pulling up the record on your car and fining you for going over the speed limit? Try arguing that you were overtaking, I bet it doesn't work!

Just keep your XR or TT in good nick and never upgrade to a new model with fancy tracking. :)

Could never work.

Every car on the road would have to have it.

Imagine if some one hacked into the system & cut all cars power!!!

The funny thing is the country would fall into an instant recession as all the cops lost jobs and the revenue from speeding fines dried up over night.

I speed and I vote lol

Since when were we allowed to speed while overtaking anyway??

well I personally don't like sitting on the wrong side of the road doing 5km/h more than the truck I am trying to overtake.

Please forgive the cynic in me, but where has this “story” come from?

Sounds like a chain email, that if not forwarded, your head will explode (only after deleting the contents of your computer and eating your children)

Oh believe my its no chain mail, I hate losers who actually believe that if they dont forward this email to at least 7 people in 10 minutes that dracula is gonna come and kill their mum.

Heard it about 2 or 3 times on the radio today apparantly it was an idea released by the RTA or MTA, cant remember, either way it says our satellite is gonna slow u down.

It just wont work, besides y would they wanna lose all the revenue they get from camera's???

Oh wait I know, a few threads ago, try attacking a satellite with an axe

Guy's it's good technology.

There is clearly no reason why honest people should fear someone looking over their shoulder.

So how about turning the system around and doing something useful with it?

I think we need a secure online voting system that alloys you to throw the government out of office, for non performance ,on a daily basis.

That will ensure that the govenment does as it is supposed to do. Clearly, no govenment has anything to fear from the public watching their activity.

I would vote for that.
