June 10, 200818 yr #1 Hey guys could anyone let me know what tools are required to change pads and rotors on a BA Mk1 standard brakes? Im going to change them on Friday but need to borrow the tools so would like to know exactly whats needed.ThanksJT
June 10, 200818 yr #2 A socket set, a hammer in case you can't easily get the disc off, some needlenose pliers and a brake hose clamp of some kind would help.Someone else might remember another tool you may need. With all due respect if you don't know what you are doing maybe you should get a mechanic to do it, you don't wanna overtighten something or forget to hook something back up, especially with brakes!
June 10, 200818 yr #3 senna, no one should even think about commencing any sort of work without a hammer, you don't even have to mention that one lolthat's the first tool I grab when working on the car (just in case), it's a good for stress relief too.
June 10, 200818 yr #4 LOL! Good ole trusty hammers, where would the automotive world be without them?I was surprised I didn't dent my stock ones when I upgraded! The neighbours weren't too happy about the sound either...
June 10, 200818 yr #6 and beer, dont forget the beer Amen You will also need a "G" clamp to push the pistons back into the calipers.
June 10, 200818 yr #7 Author Lovely , thanks guys that makes it easy cos I have a socket set here just on my old car you needed a ring spanner for the caliper bolts. Thanks againJT
June 10, 200818 yr #8 You can use ring spanners as well dude. From memory the bolt size was 12mm or 13mm.
June 10, 200818 yr #9 senna, Tab and saleen are all tools.. ill check if they are available to change your brakes
