Yes she is just doing her job and that is primarily to try and rip the customer off. Its an insult to intelligence in most cases and needs a polite response that makes the rip off point clear.

I then politely told her that I polish my car every month and will look after my paint my own way. apparently polishing your car takes a layer of paint off each time the car is polished according to her, that was quite funny to me.
