February 12, 200818 yr #21 Author hey Pete, glad to see you're happy with the outcome mate! you're not fuming so I assume he must have been empathetic to your situation.I don't think there's a need to shame the place, but if others need to know then so be it. I would however love to know what his explanations were...? or any excuses at all?was there an offer of any kind of reimbursement? monetary or otherwise?CheersDanHey Dan he was very empathetic. I didn't get any reimbursement of any kind but didin't expect any either. that was not the reason I wrote the letter. He said there was no excuses. he knew about it the same day cause the recepacation lady I spoke to first, told him. He spoke to his staff that monday about the issue and has taken action against the man who told me to drive it back. He couldn't say what cause of privacy sh*t. He said the man should've sent a mechanic to me to fix it.At the end he said he was sorry for what happened and he hopes I give them another chance cause he's taken actions to stop it happening again.......(double checking by second mechanic) and they don't make alot of mistakes. At the end of the day I've got no proof of any of these I've just taken his word. I didn't expect anything from my letter apart from making him aware what his staff are doing, so was suprisd to even get a phone call.Just for the record I don't think I'll be going back unless its more warranty work. Cheers Pete
February 12, 200818 yr #22 yeah had mine in for warranty awhile back, gets a call all fixed he said *beep* pick it up, no worries I said, my son drops me of walks to the glass front door, cleaner cleaning door, ah I thought ill go thru the garage door, to my horror was a tin of tyre black paint, and 1 brush sitting on my boot brrrrrrrrffffffffffshiiiiit yell swear , and all I get was sorry dont appear to be any damage sorry, what pissed me even more was the twit was detailing his beloved rusty puknnnnn xf falcon, sh*t if I scratch or dent my car I want to be the blame, rrrrrrrrrr
February 12, 200818 yr #23 I had the same thing happen to 333 twice at the same dealer, even after I asked them the second time to ENSURE the hoses were tight. I'm at the point where I check everything myself before I leave these days,a dn there is always something mised or not done right. They have a bad habit of always letting the bloody tyres back down to 30lb as well, even if it's on the booking sheet not to. Ford dealership mechanics are all overworked and underpayed IMHO. I've stuck with my dealer because they look after me in all the other ways, and I've never had a warranty drama, and have even had half shafts and other things replaced because they found them. You just have to check the little things
February 12, 200818 yr #24 Sheez. After some of these horror stories I am glad I am a mechanic who is afforded the luxury of working on my own car. That and I do actually take great pride in my work as it is a family owned business so if the business goes, then not only does my parents place get taken but so does mine. That and because of what we specialize in we are known throughout Australia, NZ and parts of the US, UK and europe we can't afford to be known as dodgy buggers.Anyway, Pete. He did the right thing. It is common practice to not name and shame the bloke who f@#ked up. It only makes him feel even worse and when word gets out about this sort of stuff it can only snowball. Also don't make it publically known which dealer it is. If anyone wants to know, send xrpete a pm and let him decide whether or not he feels it is warranted to be public knowledge. I am just glad I all worked out in the end.
