Re-mapping Computer For Fuel Efficiency

Featured Replies

does anyone know if the main computer can be remapped for better fuel consumption?

the only reason is my turbo ute gets around 18-19L per 100k around town, and that's not reving it past 2000rpm!

l would start with Ford before you go getting your ECU re-mapped, that sort of fuel consumption is ridiculous.

There must be something else causing this sort of consumption, l would get the service dept to look into it. Our T6 averages less than 12/100 with a 50/50 city country driving mix so something seems wrong to me.

Good luck.

depends on the way you drive as well but ecconomy increases once car is run in!!

thanks Mondie.I'll give my local dealer a call tomorrow.I didnt think it was normal to get fuel consumption like that.

how many kays has the T done?

is it an auto or manual?

has it had the 3000km service? or the 15000km service?

the utes are heavier as well as carrying a bigger fuel tank .... 15-16L/100km is reasonable for a ute 50/50 and reasonable performance

if I were you, I'd get the dealer to read your computer .. for driving under 2000rpm, what your are getting is unacceptable ....

cheers

I agree take it back to your dealer and have it checked. But as to remapping computer it can be done by a piggy back system which I have seen and will post details of this when final testing has been done.

Mate (wesa182),

If you are not reving it past 2000rpm, buy yourself a Hyundai Excel....Jeeesus Man why did you buy a XR6 TURBO!!!! in the first place?????????? :idunno:

Give your 'Bird' a good run, how many k's you got up on her?

My 'T' only has 1600km on it with 60/40 city/country driving and giving it a boot whenever I can (legally of course).

My average fuel consumption is 15.5 L/100km which I expected during the running in period.

Loving every minute of it.

My T ute gets around 10-12 around town and have had it down to 9.6 on the expressway to Victoria.Put some more km on it mate as it will get better.

I have done over 15000km and alot better when run in abit.
