Mercury Silver

Featured Replies

Ladies & gents,

I love the look of the BA XRs in Mercury Silver, and have shortlisted this colour for my next Falcon. However, I've heard stories of variable paint quality with this colour in the past (I.e. slightly patchy look; thin application etc). Reports of this go back some time to the AU series, and it may well be corrected now.

Feedback from any "T" owners (or previous Falcon owners for that matter) who have Merc Silver would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Brent.

I'd also like to hear about this ...

I havn't got any complaints on the whole about mine. Have had it since the start of Feb and the paint seems to be of reasonable thickness and quality.

I have polished it once (Meguiars gold class) a couple of weeks ago which really brought out the metallic sparkle in it.

Have noticed a couple of imperfections (while washing it on the weekend), but it took me 4 months to notice them, so they cant be too major. Have a couple of stone chips in the bonnet and front spoiler near the foglights, but that cant be avoided. Will probably get some touch up paint when I get the next service done at ford.

Yeh great color, in certain light and from certain angles on the boot I can see a couple of areas about 75mm x 50mm that look like they have been sanded back then sprayed, lt is not noticable 99% of the time, overall an excellent paint job, when I picked it up I spent 10 minutes examining the paint for problems because I have been burn't before.

What Trumpy said! (right down to the couple of stone chips on the bonnet).

Its an awesome colour and looks great in any light.

Had no problem with mine (June build). Paint job looks greate all around. Mercury silver looks especially good with tinted windows.

The BEST colour!!!

One minor imperfection about the size of a 50c piece directly above the drivers side front wheel, only notice it under spot light (security light) on driveway.

Great metallic sparkle to it. Looks awesome on dark cloudy days, and even in bright sunshine.

Hell mate if you live in Victoria you'll have four different coloured cars in one day! :D :D

No problem here and I think I'm fairly fussy. Was impressed on delivery as I expected a couple of blemishes but none to be found.

There's only 1 way to avoid stone chips regardless of colour - don't drive it. Kinda spoils the fun though. :D

couldnt have said it better myself!

I have waxed mine probably 6 times since I have had it (december), and it looks perfect. I was a panel beater, so I consider myself to be the fussiest of the fussiest. there was 1 tiny blemish in the pass door frame, ford offered to refinish the door for me, but I declined because I wanted the car to be the same colour all over.

have not seen any with the patchy paint.

just look after it, wash it and polish it whenever u get the chance, and im sure it will repay you in the later years....

any colour will look super if you maintain it properly.

I'm more than happy with mine. I have polished it a few times and haven't seen any problems.

The car looks great in any light and being a lighted color really highlights the body kit. I saw a Black XR6na the other night and in the dull street lights the body kit wasnt that noticable, where as with the Merc silver it still stood out.

The tinted windows really finish it off too and in my opinion are a must.

Hope this helps
