Great read Mick.

I also get 19+l/100km on both my cars. I guess I am lucky I do not pay for my fuel.

Thanks for a great unbiased report of your experience. :roflmbo:

So its pretty obvious that if the XR6T was a 6 speed AUTO there would have been a clear winner :roflmbo:

Hey mickq, looking forward to Part 5 - 3 months and the Honeymoon's Over, Part 6 - 1 year and wishing I had the Orion, Part 7 - Ah, now's my chance to change back to Ford :spoton:

Great review though. Seriously - do the 3 month and 1 year reviews (even if they are bit shorter). Sure you will have more to say at those times.

After getting my new SS yesterday(albeit damaged) I thought I might put in a few of my observations after reading the report. I would agree on a few of Mickyg comments & some I would add.

Interior Vision: Would be the worst car I have driven both for rear view, forward to right & left & changing lanes. Cars can be totally obscured by the rear spoiler & it may be stretching the truth a little but I reckon I can back a B Double easier. Ford wins.

Brakes: Agree with the report, they do not instill confidence as they appear to be underboosted & you would not be confident if your wife was small person with weak legs. Ford wins

Controls & Instrumentation: Pretty good with everything in plain sight & not hidden behind the wheel. Terrible red dash lighting & speedo & tacho that is hard to see in daylight. Visually at night it is a sight to behold if you like that sort of thing, but I prefer the Ford blue. Has a Blauplunk radio but it's nothing to write home about, although the 6 stacker is a bonus. On par overall.

Engine & Transmission : Hard to say with the engine as it's new, but initial observations to the T is that there is not much difference in them (BF XR6T 245kw 6/auto). There is no initial lag off the mark as in the T with instantanious power from the 8, but I think is is gained back by the T comming on boost at 2000rpm. Up top again hard to say with new engine, but at the moment the T has the shove back in the seat attitude over the other, but I think the 8 is a little deceptive as when I thought I was doing abot 100kph I was doing 120kph. The ZF transmission is defineately better than the Holden, although I believe in Sept Expensive Daewoo are upgradeing the programming on the Auto which will give faster shifts. One again to the Blue Oval.

This is not elaborate as Mickyg report, but I thought I might throw it in as a second opinion. Will add any adverse or complimentary reports as the vehicle gets up some more K's & when it gets back from it's appointment from the Spray Shop.

That was a good read. I feel the same though about you purchasing the vehicle before even test driving one.

I guess it is a risk some buyers take these days. Personally I think it is like marrying someone before even meeting them. You gotta try before you buy to make sure ;)

I bought my T via a car broker. Didn't even sit in one until I got the keys.

That's how confident I was after doing the research.

cheers
