Transmax Z For Zf 6h26

Totally different box and Castrol don’t recommend Transmax Z for the 4 speed and infact recommend TQ 95.

I’ll test it and be the guinea pig.

Could those that have done an oil change & filter put together a bit of a walk through, I can't find much info on the zf and ford said they don't do oil changes as it a sealed unit. It would help me and I'm sure many others that have limited mechanical knowledge.

Maybe ask Ford why the ZF has been equipped with a drain plug then

Definitely worth changing the fluid regularly, but how often is difficult to say, it depends on how you drive, how much power you have, cooling etc, but to say its sealed is just plain stupid

I was a little confused at the time cos I'd had a look and seen the drain plug. guy said they come from factory full and service guys don't touch them, there sealed for life.

not the first bad answer I've got from ford

I've also got a rubbing noise at tailshaft speed that ford have said isn't a problem, yet simon (xtreme) noticed it straight away and said it needs to get looked at. go back to ford and same answer....no problem.

I think I'll change the oil myself this weekend.. any tips to make life easier?

Seriously - Drain the oil with the engine idling and in gear, which will get most of the oil out.

Fill in the same way, until oil runs out of the fill plug (engine must idle in gear, and trans should not be too hot.

I lift my car on the right hand side, which menas I get a little more oil in than if the car was 100% level, but hasn't caused any problems.

I have made a special gravity fill system, which allows me to fill the required 8 lts of fluid fairly easily.

One tip - Watch your hand when removing and re-fitting the fill plug, the exhaust is blo*dy HOT

Wrighty DO NOT use Transamx Z in the 4 speed - its wear rates are very unfriendly.

Stick to the TQ95 and get your changes adjusted through Edit and the system fitted with a trans cooler.
