Why Not 9 Inch Wide?

I have 9.5" wheels on the rear in 20's - 275/35-20 to be precise. It makes it a little over-geared but it has enough power to turn the wheels.

I have 19x8.5" front and 19x9.5" rear wearing 245/35 and 275/35 respectively. I was never going to run the same width tyres all round. I'm disappointed that a car as big as the ford couldn't get 19x10.5 under the rear, I wanted 295/35 on the back.

I'm running 18x8.5" rims and used to run 235 front and 265 rear. Both sizes turnout to be a bit wrong, the 235 on front were a little small with the rim protector part of the tyre slighty inside the width of the rim thus a couple of nicks in the left front rim and the rears running 265 always felt like the rear was squiriming and wringling around a lot , which is cool changing gears etc but I ended up chewing out the insides of the tyres as a result, and worn thru the rears more than 2x as fast as the fronts, so I have now gone to 245x40x18 all round and will be rotating.

Just my situation but 9.5" rims would be nice however to rotate has anyone tried 265-275's all round? is it possible and much does running wide rubber on the fron affect things?

I've got that stock 18x8" rims and have fitted 235 bfg's all round (235 $245ea, 245 $345ea, that's the only reason). I think the quality of the tyre is more important than the size and my 235 bfg's have 1/2" wider tread face than the sp9000 245's and about 1" more than nankang ns2's, so not all tyres are the same despite thier stated size. Of more importance is the quality of the rubber obviously.

Traction in the dry is pretty good. You obviously can't just stomp on the throttle, but with some decent throttle control it is possible accelerate quite rapidly (can't use full throttle in first at any speed, but). And besides, I think you're better off loosing traction than breaking gearboxes and cvs with to much traction. It's more fun to drive and traction control is always there for the wet or if you want a pretty mundane drive.

265/275s are too wide for the front, and 9" rims are not legal on the front either.

The Cobra has 17x12 rears with 315s and fronts are 17x10 with 255s

Obviously you would need to roll your guards, but wondering if you could fit them in?

Yup, a guy in QLD found the right combo. 19x8.5 with 245/35R19 front and 19x9.5 with 285/30R19 rear. Both front and rear run a +35 offset with 1 degree of negative camber on the back and rolled guards.
