January 30, 200719 yr #1 hi all I got a bigger clutch put in after I got home I was going for another drive , started it and at idle it sounded like a old nissan patrol rattling away, when u push the clutch in it go s away and when u bring it to 1000 rpm it gos away. They keep telling me its because of the light fly wheel and all the xr6t s gear box es do it. I think its the throw out bearingany info would be good

January 30, 200719 yr #4 yes mate.. I have the same prob.... its the ligthened fly wheel and has nothing to do with the throw out bearing. changing oils does not help eihter unfortunately.the take offs become non rattly after a little while but the idle rattle will remain!!but hey, It holds the power Edited January 30, 200719 yr by jetute
January 30, 200719 yr #5 Author yeh it holds the power well. I just thought it was doing damage to something, oh well ill just have to put up with it
January 30, 200719 yr #6 If everything works well and gear shift are easy dont worry about it mate. Transmax Z will quieten it down abit. I run Royal Purple Trans Oil in my box and the shift quality is awesome well and truly a cut above the Transmax but it sounds like a tractor when its idling( i have my own little sympthony going on with the rattle atomic pistons as well.... ). I believe Mal Woods Has a Q and A thread in his section that tries to explain what the noises are and what cause them. i believe he said alot of it is to do with the unstable idle rpm on these motors....i guess the lightened flywheel may has less of a dampening effect on the Noise.... :loc: Luke
January 30, 200719 yr #7 sounds like a throwout/thrust bearing.... does it go away when u push the clutch in on idle?you should run transmax Z in anything slightly modded but it sounds clutch related.

January 30, 200719 yr #9 Me to.Mine is supposed to be excede but don't know if flywheel is lightened version.Other than that rattle its orsm at holding 275rwkw.Find it a bit embarrassing in neutral, will try a better lube to see if helps.
January 30, 200719 yr #10 sounds like a throwout/thrust bearing.... does it go away when u push the clutch in on idle?you should run transmax Z in anything slightly modded but it sounds clutch related.←It goes away when you put your foot on the clutch because the input shaft in the box stops turning. In my experience throw out bearings that are U/S get louder when you put your foot on the clutch...
