More Intercooler Antics

Collected this intercooler today and set about fitting it up. Ive had the hybrid 450 300 75 on for a few months now but I decided I'd try a bigger sucker to combat our 40deg summer days.

First hurdle was its width, end tank to end tank is 680mm so I had to trim a little from the inner of the bumper, but nothing crazy which I was happy with. next was that pesky aircon hose thing, but I bit the bullet and gave a little prod and bend then some more and it moved its way back alloy just enough room... it moved back about 20mm, I feel I may chop it off and get an aircon place to put a rubber hose fitting there, but for now its stays ( the iC is off centre about 10mm due to this )

Next thing was the mounts, I had to ajust them from the other IC but that was just some bending in the vice, though I didnt put bottom mounts on yet so that's my weekend job along with generaly tiding the job up. Pipes might grow soon too

So its on, and a bit of a fang round the block tells me lag hasnt changed but puch on boost is up, up a fair bit

I need to buy a few new bends to replace the extra silicon bends I put on today, but I'll do that when I change all the piping to 3inch or maybe 3.5.

that's a great size. Where did you get it. I hope its chinese and cheap. Is it 75mm or 100mm thick.

600 400 80 bar & plate, nothing fancy, just a good sized core

Looks good brings back bad memoies of fitting a 600 core in the front.

The 3" pipe work is the go, a little lag then hold on....

I am changing my pipe work again and are getting rid of the croosover pipe (if it ever comes back from the spray painters), did you keep your battery in the stock position? if so what diameter pipe do you use to run the filter out the front?

Good to see some one else who thinks bigger is better.

Yeah the battery is still there, I ran a 3in flexy hose under it and under the headlight... easy and works well, but I think I'll make an aps style box with 4in pipe and BIG filter

how much do you want for the cooler you just took off?

You still haven't said where you can get one and price. that's an ideal core size but the side tanks just look a little on the thin size. When you are boosting up check the temp difference between the top and bottom of the cooler to see whether the top gets much air.

Is there enough room to accommodate slightly wider tanks if you change that pesky aircond connection?

Garrett did a good job with the design of the end tanks on the stock cooler though.
