It doesn't come with a new cover slide, like tabs did, but they are 20 from ford, so that sill leaves me 20 bucks up on him, but I just "modified " the factory thing.

Now I cleaned it 662kms ago, when I first read this thread. Now after 60000k's factory mesh job had mould and leaves and dead spiders ( 3 huntsman ). I high pressure washed it and it was like new, 600 odd kays later, it was filth.

Think off what your breathing people. I can now say the smell of cat piss has passed, you know the smell when it's really hot and the AC just starts.

The cover is to hold it in place. The standard cover will work, just shave the protruding bits off with a sharp blade.

:crybaby:

The actual filter itself is just a cartridge - you need something to stop the little f*cker from ending up in your glove box :spoton:

Alternative - the humble stocking:

Guess what - a knee high XL size stocking (stop laughing you warped b$st#rds) stretches neatly over the original leaf catcher cabin filter insert, and does an amazing job of stopping a stack of nasties getting to the cabin. Tried this a while back - after 5000 Ks the stocking is FILTHY; just turf it in the washing machine and use the "other" leg (LOL). Not exactly 5 micron carbon style, but a darn site better than the leaf strainer and at @$2 or $3, it's a bargain.

Colour - is of course, your choice. Some prefer nude, some sheer. Me? Like Dags and Tab, black does the job.....

Got the carbon one from Super Cheap in Osborne Park this morning $34.95 with a cover that fitted perfectly. What a bloody good idea. I always wondered what a pollen filter was, and never ordered it new because I thought it was device that went over the air vents or sat on the back parcel tray :stirthepot: The factory mesh thing :roflmbo: was full of dust and leaves etc so I put the carbon one in and ran the car down to Mandurah 120 klm and back with the air on and all the inside aging smell is gone now. Also averaged 9.7 ltrs on cruise between 100 - 110, it used to be about 12.8 with the blocked CAT so there you go :spoton:

BLOODY GOOD FILTER SETUP. Even if they are now an OS made import
