There is a cure for this malady - just go out to the western areas of Sydney any Fri or Sat night and LISTEN to the little ricers wheezing their way around the MacDonalds car parks ...

Im working with a company on the weekend with their bov kit. We are working out how to fit it, best method of fitting it etc. I will post the info on the site as well as some photos on Saturday.

Cheers

Mine's a plumb back config too....wanted it to be atmos but technician warned that it's illegal. Not sure how true that is but I'm not really a big fan of the loud wheezing sound myself, though the current setup on mine does have a slight whoosh...the irony.

boys you will find I'm sure that venting the BOV to the outside air is illegal due to possible venting of emmissions into the air. Also the engine computer is designed to measure the engines air. by doing this it will stuff up the idle quality at the least and the computer may retard the engine to suit. not worth the pppfffftttt sound. chris on and auto you wont even get it on a gear change

oh no, riced up XR6T on the way! :bookworm::sick:

I'd be interested to see what your air/fuel ratio is going to look like. I'd say up chit sreek...

I was talking to my tuner, and he said the a/f ratio shoudn't change during cruise or accelleration because the bov is "closed".

all it should do is puff a little black smoke after gear changes or when the manifold is in vacuum, because the computer thinks that there is still x amount of air in the intake and will inject the correct amount of fuel mixture. But all the air wont be there (because it was exhausted by the bov) so it will richen up. should only happen when the intake manifold is in a vacuum state. and the bov is being sucked open.

I think this is right.... :bookworm:

ms700> that explanation sounds feasible but ask yourself why would anyone want to:

1. make their car illegal - the risk of losing insurance cover should be enough to scare the daylights out of you for a start

2. do something that destroys the subtle approach to producing bucket loads of power/torque that this fantastic engine delivers

3. cause your engine to run rich, therefore robbing your engine of power and your wallet of folding stuff simultaneously.

4. cause your engine to run rich (yes, again) which will possibly limit the life expectancy of your catalytic convertor, at a cost of several hundred dollars a time.

????????????

Sorry, I dont remember saying I was actually GOING TO DO THIS MOD!!!

Just explaining all the ramifications in doing this modification!

eg: why it will muck up all the air/fuel ratios....

isnt that what forums are all about? Or should I shut up and not share any knowledge I have found out??????????

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
