Warranty Issues

Hi all,

I just took the T in for service and have noticed that the intercooler manifold cover has started to flake off where it says turbo. The whole plastic cover is brittle and soon the whole finish will peel off. Ford dealer tells me no go on warranty as it is a trim issue! Anyone had similar? Can I get it replaced under warranty?

A part of the car that the surface is not exposed to sunlight or wear and tear, only thing its exposed to is heat from the motor, which the paint should be able to handle, tell them to fix it or you are taking further action, or go to another dealer.

Won't make any difference, this has been a "Within tolerence, not warranty" position of Ford since way back when.

I think everyone has suffered the same fate after a year or two.

Different story here - had mine changed under warranty.

Explained that I had no mods and that they couldn't guarantee that these "flakes" weren't going to cause a problem when they ended up all over the engine bay.

Try another dealer.

I would be concerned

Had to have my turbo repaired, as the compressor vanes suffered damage from what could have been a small amount of coating coming off on the inside of the piping

Make sure you check the compressor wheel of your turbo for damage (just remove the intake piping from the turbo), so that you have a case while your car is still under warranty

Mine has only just developed 2 small flakes at 150,000km.
