Top Speeds

Just hope you guys are using either a GPS or calibrated speedo or track/lap timer to do your speed measurements.

XR6 - With mine 260 on the speedo is actually 245 on the gps. At 250 (gps) it was very flighty with the stock suspension.

Once I put the coilovers in 265 became easy and it was still a fair bit left.

1999 R1, geared to 285 at PI on the limiter in 6th. (read 305 before calibration)

2005 R1, geared to 290 at PI on the limiter in 6th. (read 315 before calibration)

2009 R1, geared to 285 at PI on the limiter in 6th. Very different bike to ride.

All above was done with calibrated speedo and gps laptimer.

185kmph in my old 95 Verada

Done on Ennis Avenue heading out of Mandurah near Perth - young at the time so didn't know any better and stopped since I had my best mate in the passenger seat and she was getting a little worried lol.

Keen to give the T a shot when I get it next week, but only on a private road this time!

That speed doesn't sound safe in a Verada - they are lucky to do 110 safely..... ha ha

My T high is 150 so have nothing to offer but the below;

My memorable experience was as "co-pilot" at Symmons Plains (Tas) in modified Porsche GT2 - hit 250 like the car was doing 100 in my T, unbelievable car. I will put up with Dills/Adam and others bagging me no doubt ("Eurotrash"), but that car was awesomely fast and safe at speed!

I have a private road that is about 5k long close to me.. So every new motor powered vehicle I get I take there and either fully twist the throttle or bury the foot until the vehicle wont go any faster. Most motorbikes still keep revving after the speedo stops at 299. Some fast cars get up 270-280 ( off the speedo ). But not nice at that speed.

276 in an R8 in Switzerland, where it is still against the law but they are realistic. I got flashed by a camera in a tunnel at that speed going from Constance to Lausanne, the fine I got in the mail was for 75 Euro. It still had more and handled like a go cart, brakes at that speed take a long time to wash it back down to 120 In Australia I never exceed 110kph anymore, just not worth it

at that speed you are doing 5 km a minute and 1 km every 12 seconds I hope you had really good brake to slow your arse down

My brakes have 20 pistons. I have been driving and riding fast for a long time. On the right road you can minimize the risk.
