Um , I think I get the picture. EDIT it is, enough already , really didn't want this hijacked. Why not start on tuners next , mine is better than yours or are we all from the same tune house?

Based on your earlier comments, you are in Melbourne, so at the least you should speak with HPF and Nizpro along with any others should you choose, and make your own mind up...

best of luck - hopefully you will be delighted with the results!

its advice not advise

I ran a unichip in mine and the car went ok ... ran a 12.5 but did not feel nowhere near as drivable or as smooth as when installed a Haltech inteceptor. The car felt so much more refined.

But now I too have fallen into the Edit spell but the Haltech remains for certain functions!

I still have a plug in Unichip on the shelf ...

APS is, unfortunately, limited in what Unichip can do, whereas Edit can control vastly more parameters, including firming up auto shifts for example. Whilst APS still has a place in modding circles for those after assured, well engineered outcomes, Edit offers more flexibility in tuning and, ultimately, I beleive has shown to obtain 'better' results. If you are able to compare dyno charts of APS and Edited cars with similar peak power outputs, I'm sure you'd see a vast difference in their torque curves.

Until you have experience in tuning both devices then it's best not to make definative statements about what either can do when compared to the other.

Unichip is quite capable of delivering boost at low rpm. Its more a question of the tuners ability or their goals in tuning that will see what power levels any unichip equipped car will be capable of. For the record a unichip car was the first to make a 10 second pass and that was near 2 years ago.

And the first and only 9 sec T was edit!! :sleepystuff:

How many cars are running Unichip these days from a choice of the two systems when shopping at Autotech??

Lots. Fact is the unichip powers the phase II kit for example, extremely well.

APS set the base tune maps for unichip product which is why you see conservative tunes on the phase cars compared to some other products. However, you rarely see these cars with any issues either, because the tunes are set well within the capability of the hardware components that the kits are shipped with. It's quite easy to tune more boost into an engine to make more power, or to advance timing. The engines won't last though.

Geeseman, can you overlay FSIXs'/Spoolmans' dyno graph against yours for us, you make the same peak power???

I did a comparison a while back between my car and the edited car of a member who had over 400rwkw in a manual. That showed the unichip was capable of delivering boost and power at the same RPM, given the limitations of comparing dyno sheets. However, that post was deleted...

Here is a half arsed mock of an overlay between FSIX's tune and my last tune which was done with unichip.

Given that the gearing is different on the cars you can get a brief idea of the comparison.

The unichip here is seen to come on just as early and as strong as the edit tune for comparison sake.

As this post from the thread starter states enough is enough he has made his choice and does not want to start any tuner wars.

Any more and I will start to delete posts.
