I'm considering a custom bootspace yet, have to think about that one. There's probably room on the back of the box to mount the amp (depending on the amp size)Still tossing up what to go for. apache_dj Member 145 Member For: 20y 1m 7d Location: Auckland NZ Posted 12/06/06 09:47 AM Share Posted 12/06/06 09:47 AM I wanted it to fit so that I didnt have to drop the seats to get it to sound good. I'm thinking of a way to use the gap in the parcel shelf to create a port where the factory sub usually goes. I think cutting it open and sealing the edges with a grille should do the trick (or get hold of a parcel shelf with the grille already in it)←I'm just finishing a box with two 12" alpine type R 1221 with a 6" port through the hole in the parcel shelf where the old factory 8 used to go. Cant wait to hear how it sounds, I wanted to have the boom in the cabin not just all in the boot. It looks like the enclosure you've made could well suit a port. I'm just waiting on the cabling to put the battery in the boot next to the box. I like your work mate I hope it sounds huge.Dan Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/25974-custom-stereo-install/page/9/#findComment-393557 Share on other sites

I was considering getting the premium rear parcel shelf so it has the grille there, so I can open up the gap but keep the factory look. Can you post pics of what you have done?Cheers Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/25974-custom-stereo-install/page/9/#findComment-393560 Share on other sites

IMHO, his box would not even be 30L per 12. WAY too small to think about porting . the whole point about correct box size is to enhance the speakers ability to produce bass frequencies. if you port a small box without a speaker designed to handle it you are just throuwing away bass. You can't possibly tell how big the space is from the photos... looking at them here they dont look much smaller if at all than the box that came with my pioneer. But yeah I wont be porting the box, it is far too small, I will most likely be creating a "port" in the parcel shelf.
