Bf Rear Tail Light Scratches

Featured Replies

About 3 weeks ago I picked up my T and noticed scratches about 2-3cm long on the inside of the rear tail light on the silver reflective surface. They were quite distinct with one of the marks gouged right into the plastic so it was black. The other tail light had some light scratches but the silver reflective colouring was peeling off in places.

Well today it went to City Ford, here in Sydney and they got replaced with 2 other tail lights that were also scracthed and damaged. After complaining to the service manager I went through his stock of 7 BF tail light assembleys to find them all scracthed in the same manner. I simply chose 2 with the least amount of scratches and had those put in. He had no answers but to ring Ford Australia and advise them of the problem.

Went back to the dealer as well to see what he had to say for himself. He was a good bloke and we looked at his current BF floor stock and could see their tail light assembleys were scracthed as well.

So whats next? I'll see what Ford Australia has to say for themselves.

I did look at a new BA if it had the scracthes but the BA's tail lights are not clear so you cannot see inside of them from the outside, where as the BF new styling you can see straight in.

I think all BF owners should just check theres. Most of the scracthes I can see appear on the silver reflective colouring inside the brake lights, looking through the red tinted lens.

So did you get on to 13 FORD

I have dealt with the call centre before regarding the Gearstick Boot assembly and they were quite good with chasing it up. Make sure you keep at them, and get your dealer's Parts Manager on your side, make sure you keep pictures of the scratches and send them to your parts manager. I think I might even send the guy here an email and let him know incase they have stock that needs checking.

I really just think its a bad batch from the supplier and that it really is just getting missed. It is something you have to look for. I only noticed it when I leaned down to talk with my lil girl when she was leaning against the back of the car.

if you have to look that hard to find it - I would suggest that you may be a little too fussy?

I hate scratches etc on my cars too - and am very fussy with my car - but I wouldnt be worried about a scratch on the innner lense of a brake light.

I am not trying to get at you at all - but....

I spoke with Ford Australia about it and my dealer rang them as well. The dealer wants all his current stock to be fixed as they have the scracthes as well. So far Ford is going to contact the maufacturer and see if a fresh set of tail lights can be shipped up here and fitted. As long as it happens im happy with it.

Bionic, I'm with you on this one. The scratches may only be something little but we pay good bucks for these cars, and if you buy something brand new you should be able to expect it to be in every way close to perfect to the naked eye. My BA will be out of warranty at the end of this year and you can be sure I'll be hawking the whole car to make sure I get my fair pound from Ford. :police:

I checked mine when I picked it up last Friday..No problems.

I was actually very pleased with the whole finish of the car, no pits, no scratches just very shiny..and a very different colour.

When I picked mine up a week ago there was two chips on the bumper bar & have just noticed while adjusting the lights very deep scratches on the outside of the D/S headlight. They wanted to get a paint bloke to touch it up, but I have been told that to rectify it properly you would have to repaint the whole bumper assembly as it is 2 Pack. I ended up with the touchup as I couldn't be bothered with all the hassel of probably getting a two tone car & being without a car etc.
