By different I mean flaring a bit before kickdown, sitting at higher revs while cruising, etc. I was doing about 100 when I went to overtake a truck and the car kicked back a gear but hit the rev limiter, so I had to duck back in behind the truck. Eventually by playing around with it in manual mode, I worked out I had no 2nd gear. I had this transmission strengthened by Preston Automatics in Melbourne about 6 months ago, so I wasn't really expecting anything to go wrong so soon. Anyway, 1st, 3rd and 4th gears seem to be ok and was just wondering what are people thoughts. Do you think it will require a full rebuild, or is this a common thing with modded autos that can be easily fixed without major overhaul? It's going into Ford tomorrow for a service anyway, so I will get them to check the fluid so I can pass the info onto Preston's to help see if they can diagnose it from their end.Rob Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/24774-lost-2nd-gear-in-auto/ Share on other sites

I may end up ripping the gearbox out and sending it to Melbourne without me. If I just have to wear the shipping and removal/refit cost I spose I should be happy. Will be intersting to see what they say. BTW - This isn't to turn into a bag out Prestons thread by any means. I Just want to see what people think and if have had similar experiences, what were the outcomes. Anyone know what they are and what's the difference?
