First Trip To Wsid

I know that chopper was meant to be going out last night.Maybe we could find out how he went last night.

I cant see how tuners can say that WSID is around .5 of a second slower than other tracks, pretty poor excuse I think.

I think you should be running quicker.

For example, the time in my sig was with similiar mods to yourself, other than

my exhaust was stock (just the centre muffler done) and stock cooler.

Not sure what the answer is though

Perhaps some of you melbourne folk can try running at WSID. It appears the track is definiately not delivering the times that calder does, for example.

Why that is could be a number of things. Temperature is certainly one of them, so is track condition.

maybe sydney dyno,s read higher

I'd like to have a look at the dyno graph and also know the 660' time and mph. The MPH would indicate around 245-250rwkw's. The only thing that could be wrong is if the tune is very peaky and has no power down low.

With what you've told us it sounds like you need to get a better custom tune. Who has tuned the car so far?

Geea.

Most cars that are running 12psi are getting near the 300rwkw mark, so a bad dyno read is definitely one thing to consider.

WSID is slower than Calder and the minor reason being temperature averages being warmer in Sydney, however the major reason is the track preparation. It is well known amongst the Pro racers that the track is not prepped well for the open drag nights compared to Calder, and others.

So if you combine both the avg temp as well as the track condition you get a track that is reliably slower up to .5 in comparison.

Agreed, WSID is a slower track as some of the more frequent racers from here have found out for themselves.

sorry for the aside - but a question from the ignorant here - do different tracks have different seperation between their staging beams? If so this would explain some difference in ET as you get less time before the timer starts...

might be completely misguided though...

cheers,

Ben.

You cant blame the track try blaming the false dyno sheets ,there has been 4 sec passes at Wsid and 10 sec T's(none with uni-jip though)

I ran the same time and MPH at WSID that I ran at Heathcote about 6 weeks earlier

Phil just wait till you come back from the Big Vic weekend and you have a real edit tune and see what your car does at the WSID :spoton:

That doesn't explain the low(ish) MPH though MG.

I think it would have to be tune related.

Yep was there and is was hot, bloody freezing today though. Nice to meet ya too Fill. I had some boost spiking issues that led to 3 out of my 4 runs crossing the line in limp mode, as every time during the 2-3 gear change I was hitting boost cut. Only run I actually finished was by backing of during the 2-3 change to avoid the cut and ran 12.8 at 114mph. Considering my last outing I ran 12.5 at 112 I no my car will be low 12's next time with the boost issue sorted.

Fill your car if it has a true 280rwkw should easily pull a 12 as others have said. But the mph does seem a little low for that power, I ran 13.3 with 245rwkw at 108mph. Im running a chip but with relatively the same power an edit car would be quicker.

Try getting your car dynoed at another place to confirm your power, just to be sure.

Brad, who's tuning your car? 295rwkw's should be pulling 11's when you get the limp mode issue sorted. What tyres are you using, it helps alot if you're using good rubber.
