The 'blipping the throttle on the downshift' is a great idea, but I was under the impression that the 6sp auto gearbox was run by a control module that was separate to the ECM?  That is, the flash tuner can't modify the box at this stage.

Has that now changed?

As far as I know, not with the present software, but I'm sure the data would be available at the OBD port, it would just need decoding.

Yeah, we need us some details. Cost etc?? After all, the Ford VCM Suite is gonna be here before July. The darkside version costs $895 for the basic license...

On that note, why not make the 'homer tuner' version of the CAPA Edit software have all the features of the full version, but locked to a particular Flasher Unit/VIN or something?

As far as I know, a basic VCM license works like that - you get all the features, but it'll only work on a couple VINs or one model year, unless you ante up some more mula for extra licenses etc.

I'm not sh*t  , just saying that what we get with the CAPA software should be competitive with what the other mob will be releasing (quite soon).

I would also like to have more info on the Ford VCM Suite. Sounds like its superior, but may also be more cost effective and be the latest version. Capa is still selling us the old version of the flash unit. The latest verion the xcalibrator 2 has been out for like 2 years already. Australia is being used as a dumping ground for the old stock of the flash unit.

I dunno about the VCM Suite necessarily being superior tuning tool to the SCT Advantage software, but it certainly appears to be the more attractive option for the "Home Tuner" at this stage....especially for those of us that already own a laptop I.e. no need to pay for unnecessary flash box or datalogger box

I am still keen to see what Martin and CAPA can come up with from SCT for the Australian market though. But why all the BS? Why not just release the bloody Xtreme Tune and Pro Racer packages into Australia..?

There is no BS as you so kindly put it. SCT simply dont have the necessary time and resources to rewrite the entire Pro Racer code for Australia. Hence the Home Tuner edition will be a rework of the professional level Advantage III tuning software - which IMO is superior to Pro Racer - and offer functionality that no other commercially available tuning software will have.

Remember SCT have many, many years of experience in the Ford product, and writing code for them. No one gets close to their level of depth and expertise in the US market, so its rather bemusing to think that it will happen any time soon here :spoton:
