Leave the flag as it is.  :spoton:

How fckn un-australian to even think about changing the flag and its very disrespectful to the people who have fought and died under it :fool:

The union jack and the southern cross are part of our short but great history and the flag represents this and im proud of it :msm:

:spoton: Un-Patriotic Australian for querying a flag? What next, being unaustralian because you don't agree with what the Yanks are doing? Jingoistic bullsh*t. :gooff:

IF it really was to represent the heritage of Australia rather than a censored WASP one then it would have to have some British, Aboriginal, Irish, Greek, Chinese, Italian, Croatian, Serbian and lots more.

Personally I think we should just take off the Union Jack as really, it represents a rather small pre-war population and keep the Southern Cross in a dominant display.

............if it 'ant broke don't fix it

Those with enough time on their hands to contemplate such changes would be better off putting their energy into some meaningful cause such as getting the kids off the street and drug abuse etc.

Hell even sorting out corrupt Unions would have far more of a positive impact on the Country than changing what sits atop a pole or whats sang by our kids @ morning assembly.  :spoton:

There are far more important things to get sorted.

I think that this country and most others around the world have alot more important social and economic issues to address than what the flag looks like. This is the flag that represents us. It has a link to the people who colonised this great country in the Union Jack. It also has a link to where we are situated with the southern cross. Alot of Australians have served under it or represented it. I love the flag and the country that it represents.

As for the republic I'm all for it. The only question is will it really make any difference. If it won't then why bother with all the expense when the money could be better spent elsewhere. :gooff:

Due to the govenment privatizing the the public sector the Autralian Flag will now have advertising placed on it, the Union Jack be replaced and will have a Caltex logo on one side and the golden arches on the other side, can not get more Australian than that.

Keep your gruby Hands off The Australian Flag, it stays as it is.

I am happy with the current flag.

Like others, I would rather see effort put into other national issues. A flat tax rate would be at the top of my list.

I personally think there are better things for us to worry about than a flag... If it changed well I wouldn't care, but if it stays the same that's fine with me as well...

Now as for the flat tax rate, I say bring it on (say at 10% to 15%) that would be great...

cant help but agree,

This argument comes up in NZ from time to time and I dont really see why, Like our flag yours goes back along way and to change it really makes no sence, There are more important things going on in the world as some say but its important to not forget our countries history and remember what others have done in order to keep the flags we have today.

I am happy with that flag we have as people did fight and die for it, the flag means a lot to soldiers and everyone that remembers the tragic events from the past and we shouldnt forget that time and prevent wars in the future.

I am much happier discussing our current flag rather than having flag and another countires beliefs that could have been forced on us during the 1940s.
