I know how it feels, I was giving it a bit coming out of a slight curve when the box hit second gear the rear end 'gave way' and after about 6 to and fro's I had to park it on the other side of the road.

It's true, a big road turns into a narrow strip when you got a 1700kg + car that wants to play with your heartbeat and adrenalin!!!!

Hes not lying ... I was in the car behind and my face has only just stopped hurting from laughter..and it was quite a while ago...

He pulled up at the lights about a km from the spot he went off and all he could say was fark hey got a bit loose what ya reckon!!

good stories guys and I am sure many more people on the forums have had these little misadventures.

the assersors have taken it to a repiar shop over on the north side and did not even bother to put it on the net (I am with NRMA). the guy at the assersors had a quick look and reckons that there is suspension damage.

I will know the full details on monday morning from the repair shop.

and I will ask them to replace both side rims. will they do this?

I hope it is not bad suspension damage.

Yip, I have banged a curb as well, really F&^*)+ me off but that's life, I was lucky as I left the bad wheel on it when I traded the car and the dealer wasnt to worried.

At least you weren't driving a Euro or Jap car else you'd be paying heaps more for parts (unless payout the ins excess)! Could try some Melb places (that's assuming your VIC based) like:

* Ford Mart Parts & Panels (Morrabin)

* Fordwise (Mordy)

* Ford Auto Salvage (Clayton)

* Ford Bitz (Campbellfield)

unfortunately I am in sydney and the car is not going to a ford place for repairs, it is going to a repair place in sydney which does all cars.

I hope they do a good job

If it's insurance all well and good. A whack big enough to buckle both rims will usually bend suspension components....

I've done it myself, in my datsun.

The insurance company will try and straighten your rims, (cheap option) if they can't be straightened then you'll get new ones.

to all of you who were interested, I am picking the car up today. it has had extensive suspension work done to it which included replacing most of the part and 2 new wheels.

the cost $5500.00 all up. the wheels are $550.00 each.

anyway thanx for the replies and I hope the car is back to its original state.
