Eugene Member 670 Member For: 22y 3d Gender: Male Location: Newcastle NSW Posted 10/02/06 07:47 AM Posted 10/02/06 07:47 AM I dont have a Turbo anymore but remember my dealer telling me that they can tell if you have had an edit done.Apparently when they plug there computer in they can see what kind of boost, mixture etc the car has been running, so just incase that was true I never did an edit as if I blew the car up during warranty I couldnt afford to fix it. (Should say didnt want to) How true this is I dont know. They also told me that Ford wouldnt honour they new car warranty if such a mod had been done. Might be different in NZ.Good luck with it anyway<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Avove is the greatest load of horse piss I have evr heard, "apparantly" WTF does that mean, it is either fact or BS, the above is BS.I took my car to FORD, with the following, APS exhaust, Cooler, injectors, xede, and EDITQuess what, they could not find it, the techo spotted the cooler and squirters when he cracked the bonnet, he then asked "what chip you running, or have you got edit", I told him what I had, he was cool with it all, we then hooked up the WSDS (ford brainbox), he wantedto see if he could "find" the edit, he had been told at training school what to look for, Nothing, at all.FORD cant find if you have had edit, or indead have edit, they arnt that smart, I took mine to another dealer for a TPS switch, with all the mods in place (edit not flashed in), drove out, only the guy who test drove it had any idea.Dont post crap if you dont know its true.the only way ford could tell you have had edit is if the following was to happen.your car has an old ford flash in it.you flash your car with edit and tune etc. (edit box stores the "OLD FORD FLASH as stock tune)you return you car to stock tune and take in for work, FORD then update your Flash with the Latest version.you bring car home, flash in your modded tune.next trip to ford you flash in your stock tune, this will be the OLD FORD FLASH, not the new one.when and if the techo hooks up the flasher, he can see your car had the NEW flash done last time, and is now running the OLD flash/tune.this is the only way they can see it, ever. it takes a techo who could give aphuck, and be bothered to look up the history of the car, most just update to latest and get onto the next job.if anyone can show me otherwise I am happy to learn, Martin, any comments.PS: best of luck with your engine.
Eugene Member 670 Member For: 22y 3d Gender: Male Location: Newcastle NSW Posted 10/02/06 07:56 AM Posted 10/02/06 07:56 AM Well that's how the car is in its present form. The car should be able to handle slight mods but its obvious the xr6t has some major workmanship issues.Punching rods out of the block should normaly happen when your running rediculous boost. The xr6t is popular because it has the potential to unleash extraordinary power. Its obvious though now that it cant handle even the slightest increase in power reliably.Prob reason why the Phoon got the strenghtened rods.I could understand if I was running stupid boost but I wasnt. The car was dynoed to make sure it was within safe pametres<{POST_SNAPBACK}>More horse piss, this thread is full of it, starting to smell like Flemington on cup day.cant handle boost, BS.Come and have a run in my ute, 67000 km, STOCK internals, not even valve springs, well over 300rwkw, and happy to run 17psi down low.I have no idea where people get of making sweeping statments without knowing the facts. My best guess, and there is a bit of it going on in this thread, so I may as well do it too, is you copped a sh*t tune, flogged it like a dickhead from day dot, and killed it, now its the engines fault.

However they can detect it one way. If you have a re-flash then take the car back with your loaded "old flash" they can put two-and two together too setermine you have the edit...........but are they that smart!!!!!!! If I had the edit I wouldnt worry unless I had visual mods!!

I have an xr6t that has done 60k now and gets driven everyday, runs 280 rwkw's and runs 12.2's I have customers running 11's on stock xr engines that have done 98k. On the note of warranty... I dount you will have an issue, Dispite what some have gone through the fact you went in with the noise and had it noted means alot, I doubt you will have any grief at all and will have a new engine no question's.

sport Member 62 Member For: 23y 4m 30d Posted 10/02/06 11:11 AM Posted 10/02/06 11:11 AM I know my ford dealer well as he was a cutomer of mine for 10 years and now my son has started an apprenticeship there so I hope this will give me the inside info. They have already told me they can't detect an edit which has been removed. To clarify what was said earlier, if you go to your dealer and they install a "newer ford flash" and you go home and "flash in your modded tune" I was under the impression that you would now be dowloading the "new ford flash" to your flash unit prior to uploading your modded tune, hence next time you go for service and flash it back to standard, it would now have the "new ford flash" that was installed at you last service hence not create any suspicion at the dealer. Tell me if I am wrong. Also, I am proposing a Nispro "stage 1" edit which is 10psi tune, valve springs, enlargment of my injectors (so as to appear standard) & standard exhaust which I think they said would give about 25 -260 rwkw. Is anyone familiar with this edit My ute is a 6sp auto BF so I am waiting until Nispro have had a bit of experience with the new trans. Sport.
