Basically I’m looking at good quality entry level machine with a small Hard Drive (80gig would be more than enough) I’ve seen a couple on ebay that seem to have everything I require:1 – Panasonic DMR-E85H 80GB HDD2 – Samsung DVD-HR720 80GB HDD&DVD RECORDER I’m running a 42inch plasma with HD set top box and 5.1 surround.Has anyone got either of these or heard anything about them…any suggestions welcome!!! Two essential features for me are a HDMI connection so l can replay digital direct into my Plasma and the other is the ability to name a recording before its made. If you have got 80gb worth of stuff and forget to name the recordings after, which is the only way a lot of these players let you do it, you will soon be lost looking for that episode of Double Fist Now over to the experts............ Basically if you want a DVD recorder with a HDD in it the cheapest we could find was $650 cash! Not sure how and what you want to use it for but if you want it to record TV shows to DVD etc? A better and cheaper solution it to get a capture/tunner card and DVD burner for your PC and a HDD dedicated to DVD recording if need be. This will also give you the ability to edit video easier and you can burn it to DVD or watch recoded shows back over from the HDD via your TV etc!Good luck! While it cannot record from DVD or VCR, it is great if you watch (of miss) a lot of Foxtel.I have also been thinking about getting a DVD/HDD recorder to put some old VCR's onto DVD and also keep some IQ stuff. seventytwo Still have a turbo, it's just on a diesel. Lifetime Members 5,368 Member For: 20y 9d Gender: Male Location: The 8th Dimension Posted 27/01/06 10:04 AM Share Posted 27/01/06 10:04 AM I have the panasonic DMR-E85H DVD Recorder with 80gig hard drive and it has worked fautlessly, its only drawback is that is not a twin tuner. So when you set up to record a program and then push the timer button it will display a screen saying "when timer active only playback is posible" which pretty much stops you from watching anything else till the machine starts recording. The only other brand I have anything to do with is Digitrex (used at work), please do your selves a favour and never ever buy one off these heaps of Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22950-dvd-recorders/#findComment-340937 Share on other sites
