Mate could be, does it seem as though the PCM shut's down to protect itself?

The traction control light coming on was a bit strange!

what usually happenes is if the springs are faulting when you come on full boost usually in 2nd on the 2 to 3 shift or 3rd the give greif, and then the engine runs rough and given about 20 seconds returns to normal idle.

My traction control light comes on every time I drive. Once your car reaches a certain amount of torque, the traction control cannot handle it so the computer turns the traction control off, that's when the light comes on to say its off. Next time you start your engine it resets itself back to normal until the first time you give it a bootfull.

I'm surprised your getting this with a generic tune as the later maps had sorted this out, it was'nt until I got a custom tune that the problem came back, I was told due to the extra power and/or torque

Current generation generic tunes have no traction control issue, so take your box back for an update. The other problem sounds valve spring related. Hope that helps.

Hmm - think I might have valve spring probs too.

To what extent does making exhaust freer flowing, with High Flow cat or whatever, reduce valve spring issues?

Is it bad having valve springs which don't work properly at high rpm / power levels or does the PCM protect everything so that its just an annoyance?

I have found that the better the exhaust the less vavle spring issues you will have, my xr6t has stock springs and doesnt give grief since fitting a really good hiflow cat, prior to the real good hiflow it just had an average hiflow cat, it used to give grief

Custom Tune, custom tune, custom tune.... Otherwise your just guessing, Plugs, Springs etc. Best money you'll ever spend and peace of mind too.

The problem The Brunks is having will not be fixed by a custom tune.

I have had the exact same issue and as F6 Extreme has said the problem is valve spring related which won't be solved unless valve springs are upgraded or back pressure is by getting a better flowing cat.

I would be "fixing the cat prob. before changing the springs though as it is a cheaper exercise that will provide better results when custom tuning.

Mate I'll be over with the green gremlin as that's the new acquisition, when I end up selling the white one!
