built2redline Member 187 Member For: 21y 5m 6d Location: sh*tney Posted 23/12/05 08:44 AM Posted 23/12/05 08:44 AM I had a boost leak at the manifold, because of a few loose bolts, these are now tightened and the car feels strong, however its boosting to 10psi constantly when before it was boosting to 5-6psi.problem being in WOT when it reaches 10+psi when cold it cuts out at about 4000rpm and drops boost altogether (sort of like hitting the rev limiter).and after changing gears all is fine again.now the car hasent been edited yet and is going in for the edit and custom tune early in the new year. will it be fine untill then if I drive it sedately or should I be a little more worried.?I also noticed that before this started happening the exhaust tip had a black sooty colour(which may mean it was running rich?)and now it has a light grey colour. does this mean its running lean?

It could be a range of things but the actuator may not be controlling boost as it should and if this is the case it will only get worse the more boost you try to add.
