The light on the dash is a 'Throttle Light' which comes on if at any time the PCM considers the throttle actuator (pedal or throttle body) to be faulty. If this happens then engine power is reduced, and 'limp mode' is activated as the PCM can no longer trust what the throttle may do. This is part of any factory or modified PCM program. Many factory cars have done this as well as many modified ones.

There is no parallel set of memory in the PCM, only one program is stored there in its 1472K memory, and it also contains the PCM communication protocol. If the program was lost somehow (hardware corruption) then the only way the car would ever start again is if the entire PCM was overwritten with the factory WDS programming tool.

I dont care what the so called expert's say mate all 3 car's lost thier tune that night and I know mine lost it today, maybe Cappa need to look at thier unit or maybe they already are but arn't telling anyone.

Unless they all went home on tow trucks it didnt happen. Unfortunately many options are considered when cars run slower than expected at the track, but this is one of the most extreme I have heard of so far. Maybe contact your tuner in regards to slow times at the track?

Yes two throttle bodies, one complete pedal actuator, and two throttle actuators on the engine, another new complete pedal set up.

That's what it is!!

I was told that the K&N / Finer filters / etc are the main cause of the problem something to do with the oilresidue on parts and small particals of dirty air

Was told ford would not replace any more throttle parts under warranty untill I removed my K&N filter

My car was doing the same thing happened about 2-3 times a week

Since I have put the paper filter back in no more trouble.

My car did have a similair thing happen yesterday after I give it a boot load on the on ramp of the M1.It decided to shut it self down and then flash an OIL can sign at me.I pulled over and switched the ignition off and then restarted it.No worries,and ran fine.I then checked the oil and it was still full. Bugger Me then!!!!!!

It did happen, maybe we just didnt explain it properly. The common problem was no power down low, as well as spluttering in some instances ( mine )

Car was returned to HPF and the tune "re-loaded". I havent had the problem since.

Rob V couldnt explain how it had happened.

Yep it's all to do with the computer, and unlike other people on this site who I wont mention, I did not leave it in P and I did not call for Road Side Assistance

Seriously, I reckon my car "lost its tune" that night at Calder but all the experts say it cant happen.

It`s those damm aliens, that magnetic field and all that other stuff that goes on when they visit.maybe they were tryiing to do the 1/4 in thier space ship.

The reality is that if anything in your PCM changes, any number, even one, for any alien or unexplained reason.....the car wont even crank over let alone start. Its called a checksum check that the car does evertime the ignition key is turned to on. Remember throttle faults were there long before there was tuning for an XR6T on the market, and they will continue to exist.

If your car loses power for any reason, regardless of whether its Edit or Piggypop, check with your tuner. There are no fairies at the bottom of the garden, there is a logical explanation for everything, and most if not all of it is finger trouble.
