Coming To Australia

I got this off another forum, and I agree with it 100%.

Why should our existing culture change because visitors/people who have made Australia their home change.

My parents respected this when they came to Australia, I still respect it.

Read it openly, and I consider it to be a political issue, NOT racial slurring...

AUSTRALIA - THE RIGHT TO LEAVE

Our Country has welcomed you and you are now an Australian - As an Australian you are a free person and nobody has the right to take that freedom from you.

As an Australian you have another right...

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO LEAVE IF YOU SO CHOOSE

After Sydney not wanting to offend other cultures by putting up Christmas lights. After hearing that the South Australian goverment changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face covered.

This prompted this editorial written by an Australian citizen.

Published in an Australian newspaper and I quote:

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.

However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia.

However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity.

As Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.

This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We do not go to your home country and attempt to change your way of life, your customs or your heritage, you would not tolerate it. Please give us the same respect you demand from us

Many of our men and women have fought and died in countries like yours to ensure that you were free to maintain your culture, your heritage and your way of life. Nothing was asked by us in return. You were free to leave that country and make Australia your new home. Any way you look at it they died for you and for your freedom and we, as Australians are proud of them.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society-LEARN THE LANGUAGE!

If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from.

This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.

But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

"THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".

I really do pride myself as being a very very open minded person.

But I agree with that opinion more than I can bare as an unashamed true blue Australian.

Beneath the Southern Cross I stand..............

Agree with the opening post and with Jewels. I really think we should start a political party based on common sense. We'd win in a landslide and have a much better country for it.

My sentiments exactly.

But isn't it funny how Pauline Hanson said similar things (although not quite as polished and refined) in her maiden speech to parliament and has been branded as racist ever since! If you haven’t ever done so then get yourself a copy of that for a good read as well.

I didnt read the full of it, but when I see the part "immigrants not australians must addapt" I agree with that 100%...

I heard of a thing in SA I think? that a muslim woman got her licence or proof of age card, and she wouldnt take her towel thing off her head for the photo, and said that it wasnt part of her religion, which sucks totally, cause she then got special permission to allow her to have her veil on in her picture...

Pauline Hanson took it a little to far... I have no problem with ppl coming here and wanting to keep some of their own culture. (or even live within their own culture)

I do however have a problem with those Politically Correct wankers that say I can't have my own culture and my own celebrations because they "may" offend someone... An example of that was them wanting to get rid of Santa's in the stores because they could offend someone, no one is forcing ppl to sit on Santa's knee are they???

Just some examples.

In Australia we have a "way of life", I feel as many do that "ALL" should be made welcome to join us and enjoy this way of life.

BUT, for the love of all things "Aussie", please don't come here intent on changing my and my families and my friends life style.

This is a big planet and I welcome those who are not happy here, (to the point of violant acts), to use the door (who ever you are).

I'll get down off my soup box now.
