14/07/05 05:47 AM14/07/05 05:47 AM #22 So far so good, she has noooo idea, but come tax time and I claim all of my "services" she will get a fair idea.Although she did notice an "increase" (her words) in GO GO, she took off from lights with a heavy foot in the ute, (She drives a 4.5 GXL landcruiser so not too much happens there), went "a little sidways" and made "a lot of noise", felt good too she said, so its all been worth it. I cant see the big prob though, I work about 65 hours per week, pay for the house, her car, my car, fuel for her car, food etc, three kids and all the other crap, so why the hell should I not have what I want, on the other hand if she ever finds out I have spent over $60K on handguns and rifles in the last 10 years, I am a dead man.

And I thought I had a problem!!! Just make sure that if she ever finds out, they're kept well hidden and locked away so that she can't use 'em!
14/07/05 08:23 AM14/07/05 08:23 AM #24 Chook has NFI on any mods other than the somewhat visible 2nd air intake, nor does she realise how many tyres I've been through, but not such a problem lately as I'm not using the car very often. So next mods won't be a problem, it'll be going for a service and some other things. LOL
14/07/05 08:37 AM14/07/05 08:37 AM #25 im a builder and the most common term leveled at me is "how much for cash", some of this cash pays for her dinners, holidays, clothes etc for the kids and some pays for the mods to my car. Spend it all cause you cant take it with you and if little johnny ever finds out im screwed way more by him than by her anyway. So yeah she has no idea what I spend on my car. It's an equalibrium thing, she dont ask and I dont tell and all is ballanced in the world. Edited 14/07/05 08:38 AM14/07/05 08:38 AM by turtle33
14/07/05 10:01 AM14/07/05 10:01 AM #26 mods on the sly Impossible with me counting Ks till the Phoon gets some more giddy up Still pretty easy for me separate homes and separate money Better spend it all before she gets any ideas

14/07/05 11:20 AM14/07/05 11:20 AM #28 Mine knows I have mucked around with it,does not know why I would want to do that to a new car. thinks it feels a bit lazy, when going slow(3000 stall) but likes the new over taking ability.
14/07/05 12:36 PM14/07/05 12:36 PM #30 I'm lovin' this thread (Cro, you just crack me up mate!!)! I do see the serious side though, and to a point agree that you shouldn't really hide stuff from your partner. But a) my wife never has, and seemingly never will, understand my need/wish to modify my vehicles and b) this issue has been the source of sooooo many arguments, that I thought rather than not doing what I want (and die wishing, as F6 RAPID says) I'd do it behind her back. What she doesn't know won't hurt sort of thing. Hopefully, like bcl's wife, after a few more years she'll just get used to the idea, though I can't ever see her acxtually ASKING me to buy her a WRX!! And in response to stang, I agree about the affordability part mate. Without trying to sound like a w@nker, both my wife and I earn plenty of dough, own the car outright, are WELL ahead on our mortgage payments, etc, etc. The problem is, and ironically this was in the interests of not hiding anything from each other, we have only joint accounts. Fine for 99% of things, but not when it comes to spending our hard earned on mods. My wife's very conservative with our money, which probably goes a long way to explaining our current fortunate position, and sees mods as the hugest waste of time and money. Jeez, that was all a bit lengthy and serious! I'm still planning on mods though, by hook or by crook (and I'm glad there are others out there who understand!!) ... I guess probably the only difference is that my wife and I have seperate bank accounts funny huh but we find it enables us to save better because we dont see as much money in the accounts because its split in two still both our money but say you had $10,00 and you kow you had $10,000 you knew you would budget with that but if my wife had 5k and I had 5k we would buget with 5k oh well works for us.,we both save hard and share the expenses.but we respect that there are certain things that are important to males and certain things important to female for instance she bought the lounge suite I bought the entertainment system and so on.In the end its whatever works for you thoughas I can`t pretend to have been in your shoes.Good luck though.
