With a bluetooth equiped stereo, provided you have a bluetooth phone, the stereo will automatically answer the call and the callers voice will come through the audios speakers. Hang up the call and the audio will go back to radio or whatever prior to the call. No need for a car kit at all and its completely wireless.

The beauty of bluetooth is that its intended to be an industry standard so it doesnt matter what make of phone you have as long as it has bluetooth it should work. In a year or two if l go for a different make of phone it wont matter, my Ericsson car kit should continue to work with the new phone. So l think spending $540 on the kit is worth it if l am going to get 3 years + use out of it.

Yeah, bluetooth is really useful in these kinds of situation. At the moment, I'm sticking with my handsfree headset until I decide if I'm keeping my phone or upgrading early next year.

sounds good guys.. I know what Bluetooth is (Have a mini bluetooth network running at home) 1mbps but its better then nothing.. but i was just wondering what use they could get out of it for car stereos..

Ive heard that speakers are having bluetooth built into them at the moment.. So you can place a speaker around your house and your amp would automatically send to that speaker because of the bluetooth pairing.. pretty cool if you ask me

Bluetooth powered speakers, fine for convenience but l cant imagine the sound quality being anything to get excited about

Shows the potential of this short hop wireless technology though.

I thought about Bluetooth hands free until I realised that

a It was more expensive

b I didnt power the signal

c It didnt charge the phone.

I have one of these phones and the standard Nokia car kit is installed in my car and wired into the radio. Did not get it done by Ford but an installer here in Brisbane we always use at my work. If you need a contact PM me.

I have a Nokia Car Kit installed for my Nokia 6310i. Had everything arranged through Ford and it all works nicely, although the "skill level" of the dude they brought in to do the install was a novice at best.

I am using the supplied speaker from the car kit at the moment, but I might look at routing the output through the premium audio system sometime soon. Could do it when I look at getting the Blaupunkt BA Multimedia Interface & MP3 Player early next year.
