I agree with you Goldie 100%...

But after having my best mate and godfather to my daughter shot dead, unarmed in his own house in coffs harbour, because... and here is the charge - he wouldn't come outside when asked to and told them to fark off and get out of his house....... officer then transferred to a remote country town... Coroners inquest says ooopps..... wrong house....

mate ...... was 12 years ago... but sorry .. It still hurts.....

I am sorry this happend and am not saying all cops are right but we need to allow them to do there job and than have the courts back them up and then things will start to change.

respect for police is respect for the law - the same law that protects you and sees you sleep soundly at night.

To blanket cover any part of the community is naive. There are good and bad in all areas of life and its best to treat people on an individual basis.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Oh please Steve, the police are way out of line here!! They didn't need to taze her for being on her phone!! They should be charged with assault!!

This woman is hardly a criminal or a threat to anyone!!!

And this is what the trouble is she may not have been a criminal but she did not obey thier requests so tell me what they should have done just walk away and not done any thing and that is the probelm we have in this world no respect for the law.

its pretty simple. Just do as they ask.

Did anyone see the bit on a current affair tonight where the police officer had a camera on him for the last 3 years?

You have to feel sorry for the crap that the honest cops take from criminals.

IMO the woman asked for it.

No disrespect, but wait a few more years till tazers and Mace make it into high schools.....

"hey boy.. stop that talking.. told ya three times now...... BZZZZZZZZZZZZ"

Right... cable ties...... Dragged into the closet........ Questioning.........

Hope your kids never have to experience this kind of reaction to fear.....

Police are scared and their reactions are based on their fear of the situation not reality of the situation... We are only human after all ... Their pride seems to get in the way of a decent compromise sometimes......

But in no way do I underestimate the complexity of their job....

The older and more experienced officers that have the knowledge and skills, burnout, long before they get a chance to pass them on to the younger generation of police..... We are left then with a new generation of police who learn all their talents for themselves, on the street and out of American police issue handbooks also antiquitated australian manuals (not to mention cop shows on TV)......

The world is a changing and if you think you had rights... You better make sure you are in exactly the right places at exactly the right times... Nothing less.....

Without going into the situations I've encountered and boring everyone with "war stories", the general trait is to under-react to a threat. I have worked at two police stations where there were less than half a dozen Constables (junior police) on the roster, the majority were Senior Constables (The "experienced officers"), most with over 20 years policing experience. 30 Senior Connies, 20 years each, that's 600 years policing experience in one station.

I have never copied a trait off TV, in 5 months in the academy there was one training video that contained an American (and that was a video teaching particular comunications techniques; nothing to do with weapons/fighting). Do you honestly think we spend 5 months at the academy watching Blue Heelers and Law and Order?

I'm not sre why I am still surprised at some of the  that I read...

PS. I haven't watched the posted video, that's not what I'm commenting on.

Maybe not a criminal, but she was driving with a suspended license. That's against the law, she was a criminal. Maybe this is why she was acting smart, delaying him and trying to make him just walk away and forget her...

If I was her husband, I'd have a Tazer packed with me 24/7. imagine living with THAT.......

Yes there are a lot of good cops out there but the problem is as I have witnessed young constables like to show a little to much in font of peers .

Isnt there job to protect and serve ,then why did it take 2 1/2 hours for the cops to turn up after our house was broken in to after we disturbed them in the act and I went in chase but could catch them .Cops never found out anything .I found out someone was involed and also where they sell and buy goods .Also on the subject after the cops left half an hour later they came back I called the cops, 4 cars in 10 mins .I am a chef and had taken my knifes home for the night and was armed ready for them ,anyway when the cops turned up one old copper comes up and

says "why didnt you go outside and see what they were doing"

I replied "if I went outside and something happened and I stabbed one of them you would be arresting me wouldnt you "

he replied "you cant do that"

I replied " that's why I didnt go out that is your job"

Recently I had a mates house broken into mobile phone etc stolen, they found most of the item but didnt even check the phone as the dumb bastards had taken pics of themself with family ,smokin up etc

I know the courts are mainly to blame as b&e's only get a slap on the wrist and sent backout into the commuity .As all the cops can do is arrest them and file the paper work hopping that they will finally be place in prison where they belong.

Well that is of my chest .

Each to the own opinion though

After listening to what my friend has said and shown me about the academy I could not agree more ba turbs.

I also have a cousin in the force and his late father was also a cop and I know what they have gone though for many years.

They should have attempted to pull her out of the car first then if she got violent when they did it then they should have up'd the force they used... I don't think that they should have used the tazer as the second method after asking, they should have attempted to manually pulled her from the car first...

To be honest if you start talking back to cops you really are asking for it, as it instantly up's their suspicions of you if you become defensive... (and rightly so...)

I certainly don't mind that they got the women out of the car using any means possible, whilst it may look heavy handed to us from our angle who knows what they have just seen or suspect (eg the woman might have had a gun or knife in her handbag etc that we didn't see...)
