I will take a punt and say that your car was mistaken for the same one that was used as a getaway vehicle in an armed robbery.

Either that or the tiny Policewoman with the yellow flouro cap thought that if she pointed her pistol at you, you might stop laughing at how ridiculous she looks dressed up with her little belt carrying all of the equipment that real Policemen have no trouble carrying.

Ok, time to put you all out of your misery....

The coppers ran my plates because they heard my exhaust as I was heading up Harris St near Broadway in Sydney.

Guess what, my plates come up as a stolen vehicle.... because I had a Calais stolen back in 2002 with the same plates that I had re-made.

The boys in blue behind me were general duties in a Falcon XT so the radio operator calls for the dog squad and highway to get ready for a chase.

I turned into Regent St and then stopped to turn left into Cleveland St, Redfern. When I suddenly catch a glimpse in the rear-vision mirror of the copper behind me jumping out the car. I started looking around to see what he was after, and guess what it is me... I nearly sh*t myself.

Next thing I am out of the car and up against the fence trying to work out what I did wrong with two guns pointed at me...

The coppers couldn't believe their luck, they couldn't work out why I wasn't making a run for it. They had belted up and were ready for a chase, but said they were already resigned to the fact that the turbo would probably disappear into the distance while they watched.

Anyway, they were really cool once they realised it was a mistake and we chatted for a while about the merits of the turbo.... ended up waiting almost 15 minutes for the radio operator to allow them to let me go though, even though everything matched up.

Hopefully my plates are now off the system as stolen so it doesn't happen again.... but at least I will know what is happening.

The good thing is, I also feel better that there is still potentially a slim chance a stolen car can get found as the boys in blue are checking

2002 eh? Took 3 years for a copper to see your plates and run a check. How many times have you been pulled over in the three years? Random breath tests included.

I had one of my personalised plates stolen and was told that I should not use them again as they would ALWAYS say stolen on the police computer and that there was NOWAY to get this removed.

I would check to see if this is still the case as you do not want to go through that ordeal again

Have to be at least 5 RBT stops over the time and two different cars have had the plates on them since the other one was stolen....

I guess you are right, probably covered more than 60,000 Km's with them on the two cars.
