I build buildings not motors, so I am by no means a mechanic. Please help me out with some basic Q's I have:

I hear mixed opinion about if ford can detect that an edit has been installed and then removed. Can it or not? And why not?

Apparently the computer records the driving history, so when should you revert to the standard flash? 4 weeks before the next service, when?

And if you reflash back to the factory setting, then surely the version you are uploading wont marry up with the build date of the car, or is this not the case?

if the pcm records the driving history it must have a hugh memoory ..I asked my service guy and he said that they could detect is with the tune in but when you put the factory tune backk and drive it for a while you can not tell

Brad,

I've had the car on a dyno with the original and updated tunes in. Based on what I've seen, the updated tune:

- Slightly reduces the timing retardation for intake charge increases.

- Brings boost back up from 8PSI at the top end after the AFR are brought back to .82 lambda.

Any others changes Martin?

Martin,

Could you please let us know  whats the latest with finding a solution for the surging / boost control issues being experienced by the majority of custom tuned cars ?

Cheers

Steve

Hi Martin,

FYI...RE the boost control issues, I've just fitted the Di Filippo 3.5" turbo back exhaust and the tuner here in Perth was unable to provide a useable custom tune after the exhaust mods (not having a go at the tuner, they gave it a good crack). He mentioned boost was spiking and was unable to control it.

So much so I have re-applied the factory tune until a solution is found. Guess I'm just re-iterating Steve's sentiments. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Tom.

I just put in a 3" cat and 3" mandrel from there back including new rear muffler with one hot dog to quite it down. Now the car is a bit boggy down low but goes better once on boost, UNTIL 100km p/h or so.

Under hard excelerating, it starts to make a strange noise toward the back of the car, possibly from the exhaust and surges a bit but does not cut out completely. IS IT OVERBOOSTING? What else might it be? I have not been game enough to push her hard to find out any more symptons.

Given one of the mods deleted heaps of post on the matter in another section of the forum, I'd Like to see some Dyno sheets with before and after runs featuring AFR, Boost, torque and power graphs that show Edit's advantages over piggybacks please
