BTW - JB sorry for neglecting to congratulate the continual evolution of your car.  Your pioneering will no doubt prove to help with the continued success of this new technology.

Also, sorry that I am not so much into playing the peacekeeper like you are.  As far as I am concerned there is no reason you have given me any reason to doubt your opinions so far and the fact you are happy with the results with the changes made suggests to me that the gains are not a figment of your imagination as others might imply.  I think the track results will speak for themselves - comparatively wise - if you intend to get her back on the 1/4?

The qtr hmm not me

I will possibly run tommorrow night if the weather cools down in the evening (29 forcast) my limitation is the intercooler (way past it's limit) gimpy boy Geea will be there with his spray so I will probably borrow that.

These are my opinions only, but for those that know me and are aware of the issues I have had with the car, at one stage in particular made it a nightmare to drive in city traffic, surging stalling and so on. These issues were ones that ford could never seem to resolve and only managed to make it worse!

The car is now a completely different car to drive. The PCM has basically been custom mapped and has overcome a number of issues I have had. I have driven around town all day today and have enjoyed it more just cruising along under the speed limit more than I have giving it full stick, and knowing that I have the power on tap whenever I require.

Seriously though, I was in JB's car today and its very impressive. It has beautiful power delivery through the whole rev range.

JB - good luck at the drags - I am suspecting good things will come given your review thus far (just be damm careful with that driveline of yours!!!!!).

Ultimately, the 12-13 seconds you spend going down the 1/4 (at least on your first cold run) do not really gain any of the cooling benefits from the cooler (ultimately this is all they allow). The only restriction any cooler would give in this instance I would imagine is inefficiency in its design by not allowing boost to easily pass through into the inlet.

I know this from seeing the difference no cooler vs cooler had on a previous turbo car I mucked about with at willowbank. Ultimately, consistency and street driving saw the need of introducing a decent cooler to this car, and yet 1/4 mile results suggested that the cooler was adding to a lack of responsiveness at lower rpm due to the extra plumbing and cooler requiring more time to "fill" before boosting the engine to see it at optimum performance. Clearly, the answer is the best of both worlds with efficient design of plumbing and cooler, and the correct stalling up of the car (which we both know starts meaning more $$$ to achieve).

Seems you are already looking into this - it's only a matter of time

One thing I will say as a fact is I know at the beggining of the testing we were making the same power as when the car came in (294rwkw) at 12psi which was 2psi less than when it first came in on the other format.

This was however only at the begining of testing.

JB is doing what most of the everyday XR owner can achieve (ie on a budget). I think the results thus far are bloody impressive regardless of graphs and biases. Have we all become so skeptical and suspicious of each others opinions that we need an empirical account of everything? If that is the case I doubt there would be less than 20 people that visit this forum that truly have the qualifications and experience to give credence to their "research". The reality is that we all have opinions, varying credibiities based on past exchanges, and it is up to the readers to decide what they need to internalise.

For me, I am happy for JB and happy to accept his review - (even if his ongoing cape wearing niceness sh*ts me to tears LOL only kidding JB!)

I am not trying to sell anything, the whole reason I undertook this project with HPF was to benefit others with T's. They needed to fully understand the software, particularly with existing modded T's, and they needed to start to buid up a bank and platform of sofware, that they can use for other customers as they come in.

From my perspective I am just trying to make us all go faster and maximise the potential out of out T's, and share information, is'nt that why we are here?

It has also been a learning curve, and an acknowledgement that technology progresses things. The amount of stuff HPF have learnt as well as capa by just doing my car has been enormous.

They is still so much to learn, and I have also discussed my learings with them which they were also unaware of things that they could do, just by me sharing my knowledge with them.
