Just got my T on Sat and was wondering whether the experts out there could tell me which way is best to launch with sequential shift and how far up in revs to hold the gears - keeping in mind it is still stock. (Sorry if it seems a stupid question).

Hi Space Ace. I have found that on the street the best way to launch is to have foot on brake and get the car to about 1800rpm. When the light goes green, let go of brake and put your right foot through the firewall. The best option for shifting is to leave it in Auto mode. Performance or normal drive it doesn't make much, if any, difference. There isn't really any need to change manually when launching from a set of lights, just more possiblity of making a mistake.

My trick is to see at which point you loose traction, at my case as I have 19 inch mags I loose traction around 2200-2300rpm. To do this all you have to do is put your foot on the brake peddle hard, and power up and just monitor at what rpm when your wheels starts spining. Know we know our traction points. Ok so to launch, again put your foot hard on the brake and rev it up just below your tracton point and hold it there. ( In my case its at 2000 rpm, anything more I will just wheel spin and result in a slow launch) And when the lights go green, take your foot straight off the brake and power down all the way qwickly.

So the key is to try to get the least amount of wheel spin as poss.

Just practise and remember to turn off traction control and have it in sports auto mode, I find this qwicker as it revs out harder.

G-Tec times for example with the 2 modes

Sports auto: 13.2 1/4

Standard auto: 13.6 1/4
