Guest gti-R man Guests Posted 30/09/04 09:23 AM Share Posted 30/09/04 09:23 AM A GTi-R beat an XR6 Turbo? No offence dude, but your friend obviously doesn't know how to drive the car "WELL".Having said this, I've beaten- Nissan Skyline R33 GTR (in stock form)- Nissan 200SX (exhaust/aftermarket computer/intercooler etc)- Nissan 300ZX's / 350Z's- BWM M3's (even the new 03 models)- Toyota Supra Turbo and non turbo (moded and stock)- WRX STi's / Normal WRX's (moded and stock)- Expensive Daewoo R8's and Monaros- Ford XR8 BA and AU *me ducks*- Nissan Skyline R34 GTT and GTR (the GTR was 30cm or so infront not really a win)Having said this, beaten doesn't neccaserily mean "massive" car lengths, I think besides the R8, Supra T, 350Z, 300ZX and 200sx the rest where quiet good/even battles. The point is, even if you have 30kw's more then me, If Im a good driver, I will pull on you. Every gear, to each RPM is important. My car? Stock as anything with a K&N replacement filter running rich as Bill Gates (250km out of a full tank)....but heck... reading this is disappointing.Maybe we should organise some day to "trial" your car with some other XR6 T's.The only car that I can comfortably say ripped my T to shreds, was an AUDI S4 02 Model (twin turbo models), he pulled around 5 car lengths on me and I could not catch up even on top end.Oh and that SL55 AMG that ripped me a few weeks ago.Beat GTR's I dont think so I didn't want to get into more of a slanging match, But you are right MrXThe R33 GTR driver must not have been trying, or had a really really bad driver, because those beast do 0-100 in 4.8 in standard trim. Mines 5.3 isn't too shabby. As for most of the other cars you quote you beat Maniac, I would say that yes the XR6T is a match ( or better ) for all but the M3. It 0-100 time is 5.4 . All the other cars have very similar times of between 5.8 to 6.5 secs 0-100. So the XR6T can hold its own and also show a clean set of treads to most jap imports out there. But the GTR....Even I would look the other way if a drag was offered, unless mine was worked. Then it would be fun. Or if I was driving the GTR. I know there is so much power waiting to be unleashed. But do you think it would be a fair challenge?Your 390kw sub 11 sec WORKED APS phase 3 car against mine. I think not.But I sure would love to be in your car when you are dragging someone more even. That would be an awsome ride. I wasn't referring to you - I was talking about Scotty. But I agreed with his comment...at least in his car against yours. You made a lot of sense, and I understand your various points. Reckon you've got a hot car there too mate.lol..My car. Mate, I WISH I lived where you do. I live in Fortitude Valley which is densely populated inner city Brisbane. Getting over 60kph is rare....execept for the occasional break in very early or late traffic. But yeah, you would have fun if you were in my car today....driving down the back country roads behind Jimboomba....times like that the only time you trully get to appreciate and unleash a modded T like an APS Phase 3.Keep up your great posts! Guest gti-R man Guests Posted 30/09/04 11:08 AM Share Posted 30/09/04 11:08 AM I am guessing you are refering to a drag raceway in Sydeny. Is it willowbank?Strewth, you are wet behind the ears. Scotty I don't deny my ignorance to drag racing scotty, But I also knew that Eastern Creek has a brand new facility, But it was your abreviations that started with W that had me confused that you were refering to somewhere other than Eastern Creek. And any day you want to give me 4 car lenghts start, I will have no problem putting down $100.oo on the best of 3. I can tell by the time at the bottom of your treads that you aren't standard. Which would make it a mor even contest. Which is what I thought I would get in the first place.....lolConsidering the gti-r quarter mile times are 13.9 and yours is 13.7, I think 4 car lenghts would be in my favour. Would be a good race though. Not sure what mines top speed over the 1/4 is. I know mine cuts out at 180 but I doubt we get that high. Theres me being green again huh... Balls in your court scotty. FPV GTHO Member 118 Member For: 20y 9m 25d Posted 30/09/04 12:07 PM Share Posted 30/09/04 12:07 PM gti-R man, after reading all you've said on Ford shouldve made the XR6T 270kw from the ford go, I feel I gotta say something. You've pointed out that Ford acknowledges that theres the Typical V8 buyers as well as the 6 cyl buyers, but ontop of that theres the performance buyers and those who'd go after whoevers claiming the higher numbers.....IF Ford made the XR6T 270kw, they may as well take the XR8 off the range, as they'd already have the 6 cyl, performance and #'s buyers going after them, and I'd be willing to bet anyone dedicated to V8's, wouldnt want to cop much more at the bar from the XR6T owners with faster AND more powerful cars, and to top it off, theyre cheaper as well....Sure, if the XR6T's taking sales off the XR8, its still money in Fords pocket, and sales to Ford, but if you had the choice between an XR6T and XR8, went for the XR6T cause it was the better car, just to find out you'd be up for several months on the waiting list, would you begin to consider something like a WRX or an SS?
