Guess what was found in my intake

I had some warranty work done on my car today, blistering intake pipe was the main one, anyway when I picked it up and drove off the car had nothing, I mean I could have run faster and I am a fat bas*ard. So I took it straight back and told the service guy, the tech that worked on my car had gone home so another guy looked at it. I was just thinking they didnt put the intake clamp on properly and it had blown off. No, they were on fine, so after the tech's test drove it they decided to pull the intake pipes off, and low and behold there it was, paper towel wrapped around the turbo finns. WTF :veryangry: . They pulled it out, and there was sh*tloads of it and test drove it again, once again the car went back to the garage and the hood was popped. This time the service managers comes out and says we need the car for the night cause we are pulling the intercooler out because it is probably clogged with paper. I am pretty pissed off at this point but remained calm.

I asked how this could have gotten there, and the service manager said could have been one of two things, either the tech wiped his hands on it and put it down in a stupid spot, or it was packed in the part for some reason and the tech didnt check it before he put it on. My money is on the first reason, as the part is very firm and there is no reason for internal bracing during the shipping process.

So when I pick the car up tomorrow, I am going to be asking for a full report in writing as I am now paranoid there is paper further in than the intercooler and my engine will pop.

As much as I love my xr6T, I sometimes wish it was made by holden, we have never had a problem with either of the holdens I have bought new, and this isnt the first f*ck up from ford with that car.

Now that really is a bit ordinary..... :veryangry: I would be worried about where all the small shreds of paper went also...

You didn't get it serviced where young glenn's working did you??? :banghead:

Ha, you beat me to it Ducatijb!!

Doesn't that just restore your faith in our wonderful dealers - lucky in a way that there was enough paper in there for you to notice it straight away!

Useless pricks!

Trent.

My bet is they used the paper to stop anything getting into the intake and forgot to remove it. I would not be suprised if it has stuffed the turbo as the clearences in the turbine housing are not designed for anything except air. This is just another example of the lack of attention that our cars receive when being 'serviced' at ford. I would be getting them to replace the turbo.

Sounds like the time I picked up up me old man's land cruiser and pulled out the driveway of Warren Toyota and heard this loud crunch W.T.F! Works out a shifter had fallen into the fan and ripped every blade off it

wow...not too good, but as Rob says, "accidents happen". Inexcuseable though, the question is, what vehicle did you get as a loaner? the Boss' brand new GTP???

I am pretty concearned I am going to have ongoing problems.

Crisso - I got a piece of garbage ford focus, they are on the lower end of my opinion scale, somewhere between rolling around on rotten meat and :veryangry:
