10/07/04 05:20 PM10/07/04 05:20 PM #1 ok I've had a thought! and yes, it did hurt....considering I won't be able to spend much money on the BA as I'm just a poor starving student. I think the XR8 would be better....here's my theory; if you want to make anymore then 210rwkws with a BA turbo you have to use a chip as the computer stops the show (and that's a good $1600), but with an XR8 you can very easily get 230rwkws without chipping it.you can get underdrive pulleys and helix throttle body spacers which are meant to make a hell of difference, a couple of guys from other forums have said that the Helix spacer has added at least 120kms to a tank of fuel!DT performance in Adelaide have got an extra 30rwkws out of an XR8 ute with just a cat back exhaust and filter change! try doing that in a T!...and there's that bulge and THAT NOTE!!Dave.I know I already posted this in my XR6T vs XR8 thread, but I thought ppl would miss it there...
10/07/04 10:00 PM10/07/04 10:00 PM #2 Yep and a 230rwkw XR8 will have trouble matching a 210rwkw XR6T.. Its all Ford and it's all good....

Now, what is the price difference of the T and the XR8 Food for thought.
11/07/04 01:34 AM11/07/04 01:34 AM #5 Dave I think all the mods you mentioned doing to the 8 would be similar in price if not more expensive than a chip for the "T". Plus the "T" should be cheaper to buy.Geea.

11/07/04 02:37 AM11/07/04 02:37 AM #7 Author yeah well to try and ease the pain of waiting for the series 2 I need to occupy my mind!I'm talking about utes so the price is basically the same, in sedans there's no question about it due to the price.I donno about the 210rwkw T being quicker then a 235rwkw XR8, there's a couple of 225rwkw XR8 (utes and sedans) doing 13.5-13.7 quarter miles, that's from just an exhaust/pulleys/filter, most APS phase 1s only pull high 13s...now as I said, I haven't made my mind up, but it's nice to throw up ideas.a turbo would have better torque, though..I DON'T KNOW!!I've been speaking to my dealer and he said that he should be able to line me up with a back to back test of the XR6T and the XR8, so that should be help...Dave.
11/07/04 06:13 AM11/07/04 06:13 AM #8 I donno about the 210rwkw T being quicker then a 235rwkw XR8 Why not? A 240kw T is quicker than a 260kw XR8. Save the $5000+ and put a nice set of 19's on a T.

I think it is best to go in both cars before you beat yourself up over the decision. Yesterday my dad and I went and test drove both an XR6 Turbo and XR8 and found them both to be different than we expected. The XR6 Turbo didn't seem like a turbo apart from the whistle. There is no turbo rush which I found disapointing, just deceptive acceleration. I was under the impression the 8 was very slow down low with its tall gearing and torque peak high in the rev range, however it gave a bigger kick I feel than the turbo and found it more inspiring, even though it was most likely slower, it didn't feel it.Just my two cents.
