June 10, 200422 yr #1 Now most of you would already know my view on this but:A fundamentalist is a fundamentalist be it religion/politics/environmentalism etcThey approach or have a belief in something in an almost religious/fanatical wayI will be totally amused how Watermelon Garrett squares off with Trade Unions who still actually represent their workers (yes there are still some Unions that do that)Who will win - the workers and families (taxpayers) in the timber industry or the WatermelonThe doctors and scientists, patients and families (taxpayers) affected/assisted by the nuclear medicine industry or the WatermelonThose workers(taxpayers) in the defence industry or the WatermelonThose workers(taxpayers) in the Fishing/Agricultural industry or the WatermelonThe Watermelon will do more harm than good - and quite frankly I couldn;t be happier for the ALPNow, if we are talking about European Economic Protectionism then we are talking Kyoto Treaty....ahhh yes...the Watermelon sees it as one of the spoken words of God.Funny how both Pol Pot and the Watermelon both have fundamentalist Green ideologiesOver to you...........
June 10, 200422 yr #3 I think he would make a great politician - all song and dance and minimal action.I won't speak my mind on this forum but I couldn't agree with you more there plonkster.Trent.
June 10, 200422 yr #4 Yeah, I have my reservations, but what a publicity coup for the ALP, a certified (funny smelling) tree hugger, get the wishy washy, feely goody enviromnetal vote!!Although I did agree with one comment he made on ACA about the environment and economy working together, personally though I think he would have more success getting the Jews and Arabs to kiss and make up!!
June 10, 200422 yr #5 <stumbles in> What have we here???I For one being a: Pinko, Lefty, Greeny SINCERELY hopes that Peter Garrett does NOT WIN! Sorry Plonky, no argument hereI don't even believe that he should be in the party, for as much as his Anti-American Baldy Spaz Dancer may be a High Profile candidate, there are people in that seat who have worked for many years to be the next member and for him to be pre-selected BEFORE he joins the party smacks of Popular Politics, if he wants to run fine, but in a Marginal Electorate. And for somebody who says he won't backflip, within two days he has already back-flipped on: Pine Gap and the American 'Listening Stations' and Woodchipping, if he keeps this up he'll be better than the WHOLE Liberal Frontbench at somersaults...Some people may know, many may not, that he was an active member of the Nuclear Disarmament Party and was in the Higher Echelons as he was seen as a Public Figure who could have some clout, instead he ripped the whole thing apart because it was full of Socialists and Commo's.In my opinion the more the labour swings back to the left, which Latham appears to be, even though he says he's a "Right of the Left Wing Economist" the better and hopefully some of the better trade unions may have some clout for the worker again...Garrett is not a Watermelon but a Rockmelon, Green on the out side but Yellow on the inside.
June 10, 200422 yr #6 I think he would have more success getting the Jews and Arabs to kiss and make up!! Come on Redhawk, the whole Jew-Arab 'Thing' has been going on for only about 1400 years (I think Prophet Muhammed walked the earth around AD600) but Human Greed vs Management of the Environment? Two WordsAdamApple
June 10, 200422 yr #7 Myhat mycote was on the radio tonight and called him a pen*s with ears  vik
June 10, 200422 yr #8 Hmmmwhile some Green voters move to Labor with Garrett...some unionists and workers in certain industries may vote elsewhere. There is a risk Garrett will become more high profile than Latham too. I dont generally vote Labor but I do want them to be a strong opposition.Garrett...gosh...the effects he'll have on the Labor vote could be weird ass I reckon!Well, cobbers, as long as Garrett doesnt mind me driving 1700kg of blue oval turbo-charged WRX-crushing awesomeness then I dont mind what goes on.
June 10, 200422 yr #9 Garrett will fit in well Latham didn't do anything before becoming leader........It seems that when you go into politics these days you are reborn and the spin doc's make out the past didn't happen. The party faithful did get ripped for a personality but give it a bit of time and that wont matter either. Unless there is a huge backlash and he doesn't win the seat (that aint gonna happen) he will just settle into anonimity on the back bench until his personality is needed by the party in the media.Who knows maybe he wants to change the establishment from within. A dick with ears as PM, why not. All of a sudden everyone is supposed to respect a dead president who was senile and a B grade actor. I digress.
June 10, 200422 yr #10 <stumbles in> What have we here???Garrett is not a Watermelon but a Rockmelon, Green on the out side but Yellow on the inside. Ha ha I was waiting for you and Plonky to start discussing this! That's a pretty good description Lumpy. Garrett does seem to have sold out, or as he prefers to call it "matured in his view". So much for Ray Martin's "exclusive" interview, turned around to ABC and Kerry O'Brien was grilling him.I've now last all respect I had for Garrett.
