Hi all,

I have done a few searches and a bit of reading on this topic but they haven't really answered all my questions.

How hard is it to actually modify the BA's Premium Audio with aftermarket gear, in particular an amp and a replacement sub enclosed in a box?

I am struggling to deal with the concept of not having a 'deck' as such in the dash to run wires off.. Could you run the sub and say front speakers off an amp with the factory 'deck' running the rear speakers? How exactly is the whole lot set up!?

I am also interested in the MP3 side of things for the BA. Is the Blaupunkt kit only DVD or does it act as an MP3 player too? I am looking at a stock looking setup purely to not make it even more attractive to steal!

Sorry if some of this has been covered before, I am new to BA!

Cheers!

Goldie would probably be one of the best people to talk to about this. He has done most of the mods you are asking about I believe (not sure about Blau DVD though, talk to Saleen1, Krash or Aaronhime about these).

Hi mate it would not be to hard to add in amps to the prem sound as all you need to hook up the amps to the head unit is fit a line convertor to the speaker wires and hook this to the amp.

I'm soon hooking into to my stereo, I have premium sound and I'm replacing all the speakers, removing the sub and the dodgy amp.

Wiring in two Alpine Speaker outputs, 3 amplifiers, 2 x 12" subs, with that I'll need a new parcel shelf, and revised boot design to include access to the spare tyre if needed.

The same system in my wrx yeilded 145db, but it was using a different headdeck, I'll predict between the 130-135db levels with it in the falcon, purely because it does not have the power to drive the speakers as hard, just becareful with speaker line outputs, depending on the brands you'll get a lot of noise through them. the guys installing my rig have installed over 100 stereos into Fords using the Apline speaker out's and no one complains of noise.

Hope this helps...

Sounds good mate. Where abouts is the factory amp located? Is it in the boot on the right hand side of the car like all EF/ELs or somewhere else in the BA? Is the sub any better quality than the EF/EL premium sound systems? I am taking my Eclipse sub outta the EF before trade in anyway so I will have to live with the stock set up for a few months until I get more funds! :(

Pretty sure that that its in the boot on the passenger side. Will be a lump in the lining carpet, that's the amp.

ive had a full alpine system installed including 2 12" subs ,front splits @ rear speakers .my installer got around the line out problem by installing an alipine digital graphic equaliser where the tissue box used to be.a good installer can fit midrange speakers in the front original spots but its very tight .I mean 1mm clearance beetween speaker and the window.also alpine make a rear speaker that fits the original holes in the ba they are oval not round ,saves you chopping up the rear shelf..

I have some Focal 13cm Slim Line Splits (damn fine quality) would they fit into the BA's pillar and the door? I also have an Eclipse 12 inch sub to install sometime as well as some Eclipse 6.5 inch 2 ways for the rear - they are so underrated! The bass and clarity they put out are amazing! (running off an amp of course)
