WRX owner may convert

Hi Guys

This is a bit unusual for me to be logged into falcon forum but in need to ask a few questions.

I currently own a 2002 WRX, I have also had a 94 WRX and the misses has had 2 libertys. So you can say I like subarus. But I have had an eye on the XR6-t for a few months now.

Well im up for a new car in a few months and im just considering my options. 1 a new WRX again. 2 a new 2.5ltr forrester turbo. 3 - New XR6-T.

My job is that as a sales rep, so I spend alot of time on the road. The company I work for pays a Good car allowance, but I have to pay all costs in running the car, including the fuel.

The questions I have to ask are.

1 Whats the fuel economy like on Turbo XR. how many k's to a tank, how big is the tank

2 What is the build quality really like after a year or so.

3 Are there any serious falts with the car

4 Does it have any anoying rattles, squeeks or shudders

5 How does it perform on track, (as I do the odd sprint or hillclimbe)

Sorry to ask some of these questions but I need to put my mind at rest. Any answer would be appreciated. If its a negative answer you can PM me

Mines 13 month old and interior is like new still

economy is up to your foot, but you can get 12 around town,

the tank is 68 litrs and I get about 400 klms per tank

read what faults its got in the fourms, but for all the head watsanames Im still happy.

The best thing to do is go for a spin in one.

The main problem is the shuddering standard brakes but this is supposedly fixed now (there is a 30 or so page thread on this subject). Premium brakes are preferable but are a $3K option.

Performance would be similar to WRX, not sure which is quicker, probably WRX (I got beaten by one the other night! :sleepystuff: )

New Libertys look nice but are a bit pricey I reckon.

We have a 2001 imprezza RX and a 2003 "T". Obviously the power is different. The build quality is similar and the falcon is lots bigger. When either of us goes for long drives we take the "T", its more comfortable. I'm a big car person and love the Ford, the wife likes her RX. They are both great cars its all down to the individual.

Mate it really depends on your needs, if you tow the xr6t is the go for sure, or if you need to carry a number of adults again the T would be best. :censored:

I have a number of wrx's and sti's and the 03/04 model is a very nice car and much more comfortable than the earlier model wrx's. The build quality of the later wrx's is also much better than early models.

As you would know there is nothing like the grip of an AWD car in the wet, now there's a thought an AWD xr6t. :sleepystuff:

A biased opinion obviously as a T owner, but u gotta go the T. Awesome car, very drivable, comfortable and doesnt sound like a VW. Great in Auto and not all that thirsty if you arent too hard on them. Going up and down the Eastern freeway in Melb every day in peak hour, I am getting 460k's out of a tank and improving as the car settles in.

Comparable performance to the Rex with plenty of room and comfort.

Good luck.

Hi

I owned a rex and I have to say it was a great car , however I prefer the T due to its comfort and size. Its slower in the twisty bits not that the T is bad but in a straight line its quite good. Brakes leave a bit to be desired so might be a good idea to get the premium brakes.

Econmy now with the mods is about 12.5 around town and about 9.8 on the highway.

Build quality is pretty similar I think.

I agree with everything the guys here have said.... the only thing That I could add is that I think your insurance on the T would be cheaper... I also went from a wrx to the T :k24t:

oh and :locked:
