  5. that's a little bit of money but well worth it.
  6. I'm going to get 1 of those colourtune my father inlaw had 1 that he was going to give it to me but couldn't find it he thinks he chucked it. the dyno tune only cost $220. that's 1 good looking stereo install bet it f#@king cranks. all I have is 6 inch splits on the parcel shelf and a 10 inch sub and the head unit isn't working atm need to get that fixed as well it is the 3rd car its been in.
  7. that's a tight fit with the brakes, what power does the 1330 put out, do you have any more shots of the sub install I like the way you have done it.
  8. Can not knock u for getting a escort especially a Mk1 I got the mini to replace the ute as I could not afford 2 car loan repayments iwas looking for a Escort Mk1/2 but could not find 1 around Coffs but found the mini.
  9. My user name is Sterck I didn't think Phantom ute would fit a mini forum very well. the motor was built by mini and moke world at Brookvale I did the exchange my self and had them set it up and dyno it, Got to learn about carbies. Andrew at M&M said I'll get 40hp with a sports air filter instead of the std filter, I guess I'll wait till I need a new filter. Got to get a new alternator it died on me last night.
  10. That's f*#kin hot I have seen some pic's of your mini on ausmini, some day I will have mine all done up it will happen slowly but it will happen.
  11. I don't think it is crabing. It probably looks like that cause the rubber cones are shot the 1's on the right more so, it's next thing on the todo list. A few more pic's the new motor Dyno chart, just after the new motor went in (and I mean hadn't even done 5 ks) for a dyno tune.
  12. What mini did you have? do you mean a 1275 but if you were going to that extent, why not a 1380 big bore, I have only just drop the 1100 in the way it was built it is ment to have the same power as a std 1275 I didnt put a 1275 in because I would have to up grade to disc brakes and it was a money factor as well.
  13. are you asking me that.

  20. yes I know we are not talking about trucks but I was using it as an example the more gears the more you shift and the more you use the rev range to get to the same speed as less gears.
  21. ZF 8-Speed automatic May 8th, 2007 • Related • Filed Under Related Post No Related Post Filed Under: Latest News The ‘gear-heads’ at ZF Friedrichshafen AG or ‘ZF’ for short have just released details of their new 8-speed automatic transmission co-incidentally following the debut of an 8-speed automatic in the new Lexus LS460. The brand new 8-speed automatic was presented to 1000 engineers at last weeks annual International Vienna Motor Symposium. It is hard to fathom exactly why we need 8-speed gear boxes but they will be common-place in our motoring future and it should help to keep the tree-huggers happy. It seems incremental increases in fuel efficiency can be achieved with talk of 6% reductions in fuel consumption being possible when compared the current ZF 6-speed as currently used by BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Ford. The new ZF 8-speed box in respect to gear ratios is said to better the 6-speed it will replace as well as the Mercedes-Benz 7-speed 7G-Tronic auto. Not only does it improve fuel consumption but its design is said to reduce power loss and takes up no more space than the current 6-speed unit. “Our main development target was to find a transmission concept which allows for significant additional fuel consumption reduction and thus offers tangible added value to our customers and drivers without making any compromises in terms of performance,” said ZF’s executive vice-president, technology and group executive of the car driveline technology division, Dr Michael Paul. ZF claims that the new 8-speed will offer fuel consumption savings of up to 14% over the average 5-speed auto which all helps to justify the need for our future cars using more gears than some trucks. The new ZF8 can handle more torque input than the current ZF6 which means keep an eye out for it in some serious performance applications. Shift quality, response and overall feel at least match the current ZF6 which is widely regarded as the best there is. The new transmission has been designed to be utilized in a variety of configurations with an eye on the future including all currently known hybrid layouts, as well as all-wheel-drive. A date for production is not known at this stage but when it is available you can expect to see it being used by the manufacturers currently using the ZF6 which includes Ford with their Falcon and Territory. So will the 2008 Ford Falcon ‘Orion’ come with 8 speeds? Unlikely at this stage but I’d certainly be keeping an eye out for it in the performance variants and FPV models. I think the fuel savings will only happen when crusing at 100-110 ks when in the city and stop start traffic you would use the same in a 8 spd as a 4 spd, It would shift at the same rev's as a 4 spd but at a lower speed, I'm a truckie I've driven 8 & 10 speed trucks the only time the 10 spd was better than the 8 spd on fuel consumption was when crusing on the highway with more gears you go through the rev range more, I had a 4 spd auto and now have a 5 spd manual and the 4 spd was better on fuel driving around sydney than the 5 spd is and that is driving for the best fuel consumption.
  22. but I thought Camary drivers are the worst that's right the BLOODY VOLVO drivers are now in camary's
  23. that's a maybe for me,
  24. looks like we r out now.
