The reason the movie is so good (apart from the script which I can virtually recite after watching it non stop for the last 20 + years) is that the vehicle action is all very full on! There is no way that vehicle stunts could be filmed like that in Australia, or even some parts of the World due to Workcover/Union/Litigation and Insurance problems. Goose's Z900 was pulling a genuine 190kmh in some sections and taking into account the era (1977) and the tyre technology, that was some serious speed. Same with the opening pursuit. Just by looking at the car behaviour and the weight shift around moderate bends, it was quite obvious that those Falcons and the Monaro were really cranking some serious speed. The movie is ageless because of the moderate hairstyles, the clothing and the fact that there are no indications of the surrounding architecture....it really does show a post apocolyptic environment. I think too many people these days expect to have propeller heads with their travelling laptop, bulked up muscle men, glamourous women, huge pyotechnics and crap doof doof music with pretend gangsta slang to make up for a very lame movie. (I'm thinking Fast & Furious 1 and 2, Italian Job remake, Gone in 60 Seconds remake and the like) "Ah Max, there's a problem" "Yeah" "You know that Code 3 you ran down the other day?" "Ah Night Rider? yeah" "Word is the're out to get you" " Scoot jockeys, Nomad trash......I'll add that to my threat collection" "Good boy Max...."

'Johnny the Boy has done it again...this time it's a scrubber. He's never going to learn..." "But you are going to teach him, you are going back for him" "No not me, not for him.." "It's not for him...it's for me Bubba" "You're wasting your time, the scag don't rate...he's nothing like a Night Rider"

You do realise that the majority of the cars depicted are loan cars, donated by a manufacturer or car company for exposure? The Territory, XR8,SS, XR6T and the like are part of the Police contract and the XR and SS cars are the only vehicles used for high speed pursuit work in Australia as they are the only ones that fir the criteria for national guidlines for high speed pursuit work. All of the others (Saab, Dodge Viper, Mustang, PT Cruiser, Mini, SMART, Daewoo or whatever that Korean crap is) are used for 'high visibility' Police work or for the Community Safety Officer to ponce around in. The money from infringements goes into consolidated revenue for the State Govts. and it is used to buy votes wherever possible (in marginal seats) It would certainly be Utopia if HWP had SVT Mustangs, Dodge Vipers and (even) an HSV GTO to drive around in.

That's cause there's been a lot of NEWBIES and continues to be a lot of mono-syllabic, single-digit IQ'd, oxygen-stealling morons who've need my "special" attention from time to time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Huh? I think it will be fantastic however I hope that is the whole group; Rick Wright, Nick Mason, Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters. Rick Wright really made that group...his keyboard work was brilliant. I wonder if Syd Barrett will reappear.....he could mix up some Mandrax and hairgel and put it all over his head again....then sit and stare at the audience whilst dropping acid all day and night.

On a mates car in Orange "Orange..the only city with a feral pig problem" Too true

One of the main reasons that forced induction and large engine capacity vehicles are restricted is because of the easy performance gains from very simple modifications. As much as I don't like it this is pretty obvious. After all the performavce gains from simple mods on a 351 C XY Falcon can be pretty brutal especially considering that the XY is pretty light and has considerable greater torque than a current BA 6 cylinder Falcon. A Pulsar Et Turbo is a classic example of a cheap wa*ker cars than can be quite easily turned into an unguided missile. It may be a poor start for P Platers, but at least it's a start and I do support the idea.

The legalities of unlwafully using using foglights has been discussed many times. Please do a search and you will find it. Foglights are for fog and any other time is for wankers and posers

Plonky, not whinging mate, just worried that next these social engineering lefie pinko tree hugging commo's will have all us P-Platers in driving around in 'Slack Grey' Lada Niva's or some such. Lumpy PS:It's not the Lada that worries me as much as the colour that does <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aahhh...come over to the Right my friend....turn your back on the Dark Left side

Ask the question as to WHY the Govt. has introduced restrictions on Turbo/Supercharged/Modified or 8 cylinder vehicles The Govt has introduced these restrictions as a RESULT of something. What is the SOMETHING This is the FACT that young people are driving cars in a manner that is killing themselves or others, racing each other, doing burnouts and some of the modifications that are being done (not just by young people but older people who should not better) are downright dangerous. Cheap Jap imports have opened up a buyers and tuners market and are cheap enough to have P platers get into them. The Gran Turismo mentality is the same...bolt on a bigger turbo and exhaust, more boost and stupidly loud BOV's. These are the first mods that someone does to their car. The tyres, suspension, brakes and the like are very much afterthoughts. Some of these cars are unguided missiles! This is what the Govt is reacting to. As per usual it is a blanket approach and affects people that are responsible. That is what leigislation does. No different to changes in gun laws. As a responsible gun owner I was affected by changes in gun laws, particularly with self loading rifles and pump action shotguns. We may not like it, and the differences between an XR6T and a modified Silvia are massive but the Govt has to throw a blanket over all the categories mentioned as to single out a manufacturer or industry results in a political backlash. It is apparent that most of the hoodlum activity from P platers has been in Jap imports. It is impractical to single out that industry because it employs people, and there is a benefit within the market for that type of car. No point whinging about it, just put up with it until you are off your P plates.

You guessed right!!! I spent all my time at Panthers Penrith, Krispy Kremes and Maccas. Exactly what happens at the Rocks is happening out there, only the twats that drive out there are from all over metropolitan Sydney. I've also my time was spent around Merrylands, Auburn, Fairfield, Lansvale and other S/W Sydney places, and I still maintain that the HWP Police around now have no pump, don't know the legislation, are lazy and find it easier to use radar instead of looking at the legislation and using it to full effect! I've been doing that stuff for over 18 years and know the legislation backwards. Some of the older posters would remember getting TINS for 'no grommet in firewall' and the like
-
Yep TJF !!! I cannot wait to get out!!!!!!!
-
If the HWP were doing what the should be doing (patrolling, targeting modified cars driven by hoodlums etc) then the Council wouldn't have to introduce this sort of restriction that affects everybody. No, the HWP are too busy flicking out radar tickets because they know that Mums and Dads will pay the ticket and it is easy. Take the radars out of all metro cars and make the HWP work for a living again, just like they did 20 years ago!

That is a big leap there plonky. Just because someone doesn't agree with some else's values doesn't make them racist - unless you believe that somehow the values they have are exclusive to the Indonesian race. There are plenty of non-Indonesians who support the sentence handed down, and I'd disagree with them too. Anyway, your conclusion doesn't gel with your earlier statement... ... unless of course you are saying that I am also racist against Italians, the French and the Germans. I'll happily argue why I think their values are out of whack, but its nothing to do with race. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well done What I was alluding to was that in a country where tolerance and acceptance of other cultures has been mandated by legislation (Anti Discrimination Act etc) and anyone that professes to have an opinion other than that is intolerant and exhibits a racist overtone, I cannot believe the amount of rubbish that has been said damning the legal system of a sovereign country such as Indonesia. The opinions stated by numerous people, in positions of responsibility, community leaders, normal average Joes and the media, is in direct contrast to all of the things that are preached towards Australians each year. We can't be indoctrinated with one set of ideals but then say and do something completely different when a young attractive girl is charged with an offence in another country. I don't know if she is guilty of importation. Only she know's that. I think she got off lightly with a 20 year sentence I actually think a 20 year custodial sentence for 4.5 kg's of cannabis is excessive however I still believe a custodial sentence is appropriate. The offence occurred in Indonesia, she was tried and convicted in an Indonesian Court, and however primitive, backward, corrupt or unjust it is, that is the system they have in Indonesia. For sections of the community to carry on about it the way they have and express some of the views they have about Indonesia, flys completely in the face of the multi-cultural indoctrination that has been pumped down our throats for the past 30 years. It is also complelety irresponsible and foolish to compare the crime and sentence she has been given to the crime and sentence given to the spiritual leader of J.I. I know you didn't but I was also highlighting the fact that we, as a nation, should not apply the ideals and procedures to another country just because we think ours is better. That would be seen to be elitist, colonialist or imperialist. My post was designed to make people think a bit broader about the whole issue and you have done exactly that

I thought Miss Palestine was really at Auburn High School....but without the long dress and as far as Miss Ireland goes........ Sure I saw her at Scruffy Murphy's....and that's where she stayed !!

Please remember that for a multi cultural country we are supposed to respect the culture of the particular country. Indonesia has a judicial system based upon what the Govermnemt want (which is reflective of the people) and that democratic system of Govt. has only been in for a short period of time. The system is INQUISITORIAL, same as in Italy, France and Germany. You CANNOT impose Western democratic ideals upon a country that does not have them and expect their judicial sysem to reflect what we believe in, in this country. Indonesia has a DEATH penalty for traffickable quantities of Schedule 1 drugs - Corby had that quantity. We, as a mutlicultural society that we keep telling each other we have, have to respect the laws and traditions that Indonesia have. If that means 20 years penal servitude within the inquisitorial justice system that Indonesia have, then so be it. You cannot be racist and say that we will boycott Indonesia in regards to humanitarian aid, financial assistance etc just because we disagree with their legal system and any alleged injustice to a half good sort caught with a big bag of smoko. Look at the issue - are we outraged because she is not a bad looking chick that seems to have been an unwitting drug mule Are we outraged at a heavy sentence to an offence that some people see as trivial Do we resent the fact that the Indonesian Govt should show special compensation to an Australian accused of a criminal offence in Indonesia because we have supplied money, lives and aid to a country devastated by a natural disaster When you look at your reasons why you are so outraged as to the verdict the you will realise the true reason as to why you are outraged: You don't like their legal system and values therefore you believe your legal system and values are more superior - racism You don't believe that cannabis trafficking is serious and deserves a long prison sentence - ergo your value system is better than the system in the country the offence occurred in - racism You belive that the Indonesian Govt should show special dispensation to an inhabitant of a country that supplied lives, money and aid during a tsunami - compensation She has been convicted by a Court in another Country that is a neighbour and could be a fearsome therat - respect the decision !
-
Guilty as! Watching her, hearing stuff from insiders, knowing that she has been at Court each week for the past 7 months, (and they don't sit around and talk about the weather).... I personally have no sympathy at all for grass smokers however a very lengthy sentence for dope smokers such as they have in Indonesia may be a bit over the top, but that is the penalty they have in Indonesia and as the offence was committed in that country, that is what she must serve! If she was a fat houso from Mt Druitt, she wouldn't even raise a blip on the media radar...however, she can't be doing too poorly as she still looks healthy enough to do a few good porn movies .....
