Exactly. Must be angels, those who reckon the dont or havent sped before. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Big difference when you are street racing on a 4 lane freeway to giving it a belt on a well surfaced, well lit, sparsely populated area.

Yes the government is first to bash. Yeah and if a camera pings me for doing less than 15 I will still be going on about the government. But when u get a cop which of couse is just doing his job busting you, knowing that u now lose a QTR of your license for something as ridiculous as 10k over in a 50,60,70,80 or 90 zone, that's when I wil start a cop bashing but not a bashing against all cops just the one cop and others like him. All this news makes me think why I should bother only doing up to 15 over when the points are the same for 15 and over. Looks like there is no point doing the speed limit anymore, Ill be doing up to 30k over now. Once my license is lost which it will be approx once every 2 years. I will buy a $500 car in my brothers name memorise his liscence number etc have a copy of his medicare card and something else in his name in a wallet in the car just in case of breath tests and just do the speed limit for 3 months and only drive to work and back. I know it sounds crazy and wrong but there is no Fcuking way am I going to bother obaying any of this stupid and inreasonable rules this fuKced up govenment passes. The amount of anger news like this brings to me makes me so sick and sadened. No wonder I dismiss most road rules as rubish the more crap like this comes in the less chance they will have of convincing me that other rules on the road are for safety and not revenue. I hope all u police out there dont pull over anyone for less than 15k over the limit and if u do u deserve the cop bashing... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fair enough.....so 57 in a 40 zone is OK? 77 in a 60 zone is OK? The fine would only be an under 15 ticket. Look I don't like this any more than anyone else, and I certainly don't like focusing on speeding tickets for 'Mum's and Dad's' and other decent people that are out there working and paying taxes. However, what I do agree with (and my superiors didn't) is that hoodlums, boy racers, crims and the 'Performance Sticker and Bodykit brigade' need to be pounded with the Traffic Act. I fully support that type of traffic enforcement.

You asked for advice about taking this to Court. Perhaps you should have specified you only wanted advice that fits your views. My advice is that there are a few potential pitfalls in taking this further: - the cop doesn't have to prove your exact speed. He only has to satisfy the Court beyond reasonable doubt that you were going faster than 150 km/h. - if the cop estimated your speed by following you at a constant speed of 140 km/h in his car, and he saw you pull away while he was doing it, he can absolutely prove you were going more than 140. - the cop will say how long he has been working highway patrol, and given the benefit of his vast experience, your car appeared to be travelling more than 10 km/h faster than his. If the Court accepts this, offence proved. - to get off, you will have to raise a reasonable doubt in the mind of the Court about his views on how much above 140 you were going. I don't think error in his speedo will work, but its worth a try. That only leaves your claim that you and your passenger both looked at the speedo and it only said 140 when you both looked. You need to get that bit sorted so its nice and clear, because the prosecution will grill you with all sorts of questions: were you looking at the speedo the whole time? was your passenger lookng at your speedo the whole time? You have just conceded that you weren't, so the next question would be; so its possible that your car may have been going faster than 140 km/h during the time you weren't looking at the speedo? How can you be so sure, if you weren't looking at it all the time? Anyway, best of luck. I know I would hate to be without a licence for 6 months. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree! You can try to spin it as much as you want, you can get all the bush lawers in the world to tell you what you want to here but you know what you were doing that day. I'd say your chances if beating it are none and Buckley's. But you can try....that's what the Court system is there for.

A diesel Territory is a MUCH smarter idea than a Hi-Po Territory. FPV can do something like that. I've driven the diesel BMW X5 and was very impressed, hard to know it was a diesel.

I liked that cartoon....Does the loony go nuts and rip the head of the doll?

In Tasmania CBD areas such as Launceston, heavy vehicles such as prime movers and trailers are forbidden from entering those areas. Could you imagine Parramatta Rd with NO semi trailers? I think it might be nice. Cost has to be taken into account...the cost of transporting goods from the depot by prime mover then loaded into a number of smaller light rigids would increase prices though I would argue that the smoother flow of traffic would be a saving economically and environmentally for far more people. What about rail......whatever happened to the goods trains that used to be always around. Far more sensible way of moving good from one place to another. Back to reality though, the whole push by Nth Sydney Council is abhorrent. Local Councils maybe grass roots politics however one must wonder if the Councillors just eat roots and leaves.

AWESOME !!!!!!! A HEMI back on the track where it belongs (even if it's only ceremonial duty)

Nah mate , this decision's been made by the Government. The HP cops wouldn't have enough intellegence to figure this one out! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Intelligence? or intellegence

Parking in my street is free at the moment, so it doesn't affect me . However, it just so happens that I received a letter from North Sydney Council to the effect that it had received "representation from a number of residents" about the difficulty of finding parking in my street, and they were therefore thinking about expanding the '2 hour parking limit without residents permit' scheme to the whole fcuken street (I added the fcuken bit). So, instead of paying nothing, I may have to pay $44 a year (or maybe less, if the focus qualifies for the small car discount). Could the timing be more than coincidence??? Methinks Council is on a revenue raising trip <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Any sort of Government body that supplies services to taxpayers, has to raise funds somewhere. Of course it is revenue raising! Consider this..when the State Government handed over parking enforcement to Local Councils, Council employed numbers of Parking Patrol Officers and they went beserk issuing parking fines. This is far different from when the Grey Ghosts (employed by the State Govt) were less prolific and issued far less tickets. However, as the mayor of Nth Sydney Council says that the increases for 4wd's and 8 cyl vehicles is cost neutral, the Council is now guilty of imposing their bias and Communist ideology upon their residents. By use of a tax on a consumers democratic choice of motor vehicle, they are attempting to socially engineer what can and what can't be chosen by an individual. Any argument that it is designed to protect the environment is inconsequential, particularly as it was announced at the time that the European Industrial Protectionism (Kyoto) Treat came into force, and Australia (quite rightly) is not a signatory (neither is China or India which produce massive amounts of CO2) If they were serious about the increase in the cost of permits, it would be applied to cars that do not run on unleaded fuel and poorly maintained cars (like some dirty Greenie's smoke blowing, slogan painted, rusted out VW Beetle).

National 80kmh limit? That hearkens back to the US in the '70's with the National 55mph limit. Eventually overturned and now back to more sensible limits because it was shown to be thoroughly stupid!

What about prime movers and trailers? Buses? Light rigids, medium rigids etc? I would prefer to be in a 4wd in a crash than some little tin foil Jap thing. I'm not interested as to whether a pedestrian has a better chance of survival if they are hit by a 4WD.....roads are for motor vehicles, footpaths are for pedestrians and a defensive driver is aware of his surroundings and drives accordingly.

Thanks Zap.... I know what you're saying but in a recent post a simple question was given a simple answer and one retard turned it swiftly into a cop basing thread. A complaint was made by me (and I have been pretty tolerant over the years but I have had enough) to the Moderators and nothing was done!!! The 10% rule, as you mentioned has never been written down in any of our manuals except one...and that was the slant radar manual. Everything else (KR10, Silver Eagle, ProLaser) only talks about the tolerance....+2-3 for mobile and +2-2 for stationary. The 10% with +2-3 tolerance is verbally taught. 10% allowance relates to the Australian Standard for speedometer accuracy and that is why it has been used as a guide in NSW. This has been visited many times, Paul Gibson from StaySafe argued that we should issue ticket for ANY speed in excess of the posted limit and it was argued that it was impossible for us to do so and get a conviction. I guess with the reduction of the financial penalty but the inceras of demerit points mean that there will be a massive inceras in 'suspended' licenses but with no way of enforcing the suspension unless the driver admits knowledge of the suspension.

Just waiting for this to turn into a cop bashing thread....where are you Brunks and the graduates of f*ckwit school that post with you!

That whole notion smacks of Communism!!! Why can a consumers choices be restricted by a Government! A Ford Falcon is just as long as a SUV such as a Pajero, Prado etc Large 4WD vehicles are an ideal choice for families as they have an easy load carrying ability (open the rear door and items can be put in without having to bend down) children can be placed in the seats without having to lean over (everything is a convenient height) So where does this leave the Territory....it is an SUV that can be sold in RWD only, it has the benefits of a 4WD without the addtion of the front transfer case etc Will the Territory be taxed as a 4WD or an 8 cylinder vehicle? If the scheme is cost neutral to the Council then they are pushing their ideology onto their constituents. Instead of taxing the residents of their Shire, more pressure should be placed onto the State Govt. that, despite record revenue, cannot provide a public transport system that is effective, cannot provide safe roads, cannnot provide a Police Force that does what it is supposed to do instead of what it does (no wonder experienced Police are leaving in droves) I now own a Ford Explorer V8....I like it, it suits my lifestyle, I can throw gear into the back including my mountain bike, my children fit in the back happily when I see them) it handles well on road, the V8 sounds awesome with the sports exhaust, the bullbar is great for mounting spotlights and the high seating position allows me even better vision atr school crossings to be aware of little kids that run out across the road unsupervised while their mothers double park or park in No Stopping zones so they can gossip about their friends!

I would say, most probably, YES. I know it is for alot of people, it sure as hell is for my Dad, and to a lesser extent myself. Unfortunately I have to drive round a little Nip-Box, for the time being WWII is ingrained on the psyche of almost all Australian's who have a general knowledge of it, and in particular what the Jap's did to us. What they could not do with force, they achieved with Money Peace <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know exactly what they did to us and have studied it. But then again look what the Germans did to our troops as well. I wouldn't boycott a Merc or BMW.. Times have changed nowdays anyway. That happened in the past. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Wermacht did not behead Australia soldiers, have forced labour camps such as Changi etc The atrocities committed by Nazi Troops (as opposed to the Wermacht) were done in the name of Nazi ideology and the hate of Jews towards Jews. They were not directed against British, American and other Anglo Saxon races. The atrocities committed by Japanese soldiers were done purely in the belief that any 'gaijin' was a inferior race and should be exterminated. I've owned Jap cars, (even a WRX I bought new in '99) I find them soulless, lacking in character and charisma and are purely a product of their technological expertise. I don't like them, have no regard for them and I would much rather have a car designed, built and sold in Australia for Australians than some grey import that has been let into the country into a used car market that is already weak.

that's the sort of attitude that gives police their reputation in the first place. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What do you expect.......I am sick and tired of this whingeing and sniping and I have ben far far more tolerant that a lot of the other Police that post on this board. How do you think we get this negative attitude to people like this in the first place......it comes down to being sick of hearing the whining and the refusal to accept responsibility for being caught. I've had 17 years of whingeing, whining and moaning and pricks like you lot just reinforce it. Do something constructive about it....if you don;t like the ticket have the matter heard at Court. If you think the cars aren't being deployed where they should be, run for Parliament and make a change as the Transport Minister. Ask the Traffic Commander to show why cars are being deployed where they are. Ask the Police Minister to justify the deloyment of vehicles at particular areas. You won't change anything by sh*tcanning Police that provide answers for questions, such as the one that started this post. The post degenerated into a cop bashing exercise after the Dux of f*ckwit school decided to change the theme of the original post. However, if you're like most Australians, content to whinge and whine but never do anything constructive to change things, then go back to swimming in the bottom of the gene pool and continue to bump your head into the rocks down there. My concious is clear, I have done heaps of constructive things to bring the focus of traffic enforcement away from speed back to fundamentals. I got removed from the Highway Patrol and am subject to disciplinary action but at least I tried. All because I was getting results, but not the results that the Govt. demand. I don't even know why I bothered.............

More likely waiting to hunt you down and give you a ticket to change your poor attitude!

Ditch the bodykit (too '80's) Ditch the leather, and all the extra weight. Give it good brakes, good suspension and the power is sufficient. Basically strip it out and make it into a performance car not a luxury ponce mobile.

Alex Davison.....very very very quick driver. He will be on the pace quickly. I'm not too sure of the 888 Team. FPR will be quick with Bright. Steve Johnson (finally lost some weight) and Glen Seton hopefully will turn around DJR's fortunes. Never right off Skaife.

Yeah..the bloke that was run over last night is the same bloke that booked me a couple of months ago....karma. He was in fact not wearing his flouro vest and was hiding behind a pole with a lidar detecting speeding motorists. Would be som much more productive if they concentrated on real accident problems such as Stop signs, seat belts and non use of indicators.

Now that's a REAL CAR!!!! A modern day version of an R/T Charger....pity Plymouth went bust because they could do a RoadRunner as well (only with the HEMI)

A simple question started this thread, a simple answer was given and some cretin had to f*ck it all because he never got to go to piggy school, just never graduated out of f*ckwit school!

I don;t like the 'grey import market'! This market has a significant impact on the value of used cars in Australia. In saying that, I appreciate that they offer a lot of perfomance for the money and that their is a whole subsidiary market for the 'bolt on' brigade. My opposition is based purely on the damage it has done for the whole used car market and the "Performance Stickers and Bodykits" mentality of the transient trogs that buy them.

I'm glad that Chrysler are releasing the 300C in Australia. The HEMI is a very special engine and at least they don;t look as boring as batpoo like most cars these days. At least Chrysler still has some flair in their design team...not everything looks like a Late model camira or Falcon! Bring it on!!!!
