  1. we have fitted many option 3's they are are very nice clutch
  2. Sounds like your clutch has had it, the clutch should give you no smell at all if working correctly. Every time the clutch slips it wears very quickly and will slip easier the next time power is applied. If you are lucky it may not slip after it has cooled, but even if it feels ok I would guess the clutch is now near the end of it's life. good luck
  3. Does your cousin or yourself drive along using the clutch as a foot rest?
  4. Not quite, but I know of 1 car that had a rebuild and them had issues and it turned out during the rebuild a different rocker bridges was fitted. these rocker bridges are machined to suit the head and swapping in this case led to the cam running tight when it got warm and this affected cam positioning, took a long long time to find.
  5. just a question, do you still have the original head and rocker bridges fitted?
  6. cams will work but most people forget that changing cams changes air flow characteristics, the head should really be ported and valves changed to match the flow of the new cams. Cams normally work by moving the power range higher up in the rpm area so normally some bottom end can be lost and the car may actually be slower unless diff gears and convertor (if auto)are changed to match the rpm range. Most bolt in cams will not generally result in much of a gain, but sometimes lots of little things can result in a great gain. Tuning should be done to get the best results of headers etc.
  7. Or convert to Liquid gas injection
  8. My old car (boss 290) made an average of 7 rwkw gain at the rears.
  9. the flash box will only read OBD2 specific codes as per most generic type readers, there may be codes there that require a proper scan tool
  10. your welcome and good luck with your mod
  11. First off there are plenty of people in all different jobs that want to take the easy way out and will do this by just copying what somebody else has done. Companies like Bosch for example produce a lot of the electronics/electrics for the OEM, they normally do this by designing, producing, testing etc to the manufacturers standards. I know for a fact that bosch had to produce a window switch for a particular model car, but according the the car manufacturer it had to last a minimum of 1 million useages, Bosch had to spend a large sum of money just to build a machine to test just this 1 switch. This cost has to be factored into the final product costing. Along will come some aftermarket company and just buy 1 switch and then copy it for a far less cost and normally with cheaper parts, they saved money by not having to design it or test it, they just make them in bulk and sell it cheaper than the original part. A tuner may spend a day tuning a car, but may have spent countless hours over years and a lot of money, developing their knowledge to what needs to be done and how to get it done. The last thing they need is someone to buy 1 of their tunes and set up shop as a competitor and use this tune in all cars selling it as a complete custom tune and at a far less cost. It would even be worse if the tuner supplied a good tune and the owner had access to adjust the tune, went out and changed it and did engine damage and not admit to the changes, reputations can make or break a business. Most tuners have put a lot of effort into what they do, (some don't) they may have something different to the next person and believe that is worth something to them, intelectual property I think they call it. Sorry if I went off topic, but there can be lots of reasons and everyone may have a different one.
  12. no you can not download tunes from the flah unit, also the tunes when sent this way can not be opened and read even with advantage
  13. you just have to download live load software from herrods site and the transfer can be done, have not done it myself as yet, but it can save having to send a flash tuner or car back and forwards for minor changes
  14. Not getting involved debating systems, but to make you aware, with the X3 your tuner can email you modded tunes to load into your X3
  15. Sounds like your torque convertor bolts, an auto should be removed with the convertor, a manual does not have this problem
  16. No dual spark tables in these cars, they do have knock sensors to pull back a set amount of timing if the motor pings, but it would not be wise to rely on knock retatrd to pull back timing for 95 oct on a 98 tune, knock sensors are known to be unreliable. A 95 tune will not be as crisp or as powerful as the 98 tune, because the main difference would be spark advance, optimising the correct spark for the chosen fuel is what gives the power/crispness. Off boost may be no better than standard as they the spark tables are allready set pretty well for 95 octane and in some cases actually have spark retard allready happening, you can still run a reasonable amount of boost to make it better than standard though
  17. all the usual mods still apply, it's just it will be down on power compared to 98 octane tunes. I would be careful of how much boost you run. 95 octane does not appear to be as consistant as 98 fuel, so bear in mind because results and driveability may suffer. I tuned my wifes car to 303 rwkw on 95 octane as a test, using standard exhaust and standard cooler -I would not give that tune to a customer as it was on the edge the whole time.

    Oxy Sensor

yes o2's not matter what car will require replacement even if no codes are logged, as they get older their ability to generate voltage dwindles and lower voltage will be generated and they also become slower, even if no codes are logged they may beyond their useable life. Our sensors should be good for anything from 80,000-120,000 klms but can affected by outside influences, ie silastic fumes, coolant, oil, condensation, wiring mods etc etc.

    Oxy Sensor

All bf's will have 2, unless it is a V8 and then it will have 4. The rear o2 is just for monitoring the cat convertor and has very little affect on mixtures, but if it does not work or the cat is faulty it will trigger a fault in the ECU, this can be turned off when custom tuning.
  20. unbolting the exhaust at at least 1 point will allow the engine to tilt more.
  21. as above
  22. is there any way to display my ipod nano coverflow display to the colored icc screen in my FG super pursuit or even display the album cover while a song is being played. I have full control of the ipod including playing song etc via my icc but would like the album pictures if possible
  23. Problem solved Went out to the car, tried it again just in case, still nothing, then unplugged the ipod lead in the console and replugged it back in, this made no difference. Then removed the main silver console trim around the T'bar after unplugging the cig lighter and Aux1 wiring connectors and everything looked ok, then noticed there was a similar plug which was plugged into a loom that was similar to the Aux1 port plug, swapped these plugs around and I now have sound and control of my ipod. It appears the plugs have been plugged incorrectly from factory although the orientation of the wiring did appear to be correct Thanks for the suggestions
  24. thanks for the answers guys, will check the plug fitment a little later Cheers
  25. Hi guys, I have just purchased an ipod nano 16 gb gen 5, played with a bit and loaded some albums to get used to operating it, all appears to work as it should. I have an FG super pursuit that has the ipod integration cable fitted as standard to the colored screen icc. When I plug my ipod in, I get no sound from the ipod, It can be controlled by the icc, I can change songs albums, go to the radio etc, but nothing I do gives me any sound. Reading my ford owners manual it appears I just have to plug in the 30 pin cable and it should work. I have updated the firmware on the ipod and it made no difference. I thought maybe my ipod being the latest version may not be compatable so I tried the wifes which is an older version, gen 3 4 gb I think, (it is wider and shorter than mine) and hers does the same as mine, all can be operated just no sound. My car is probably an march or april build so I don't know if there has been any software updates for the car but would have expected the olfer version to work correctly. Is there a setting on the ipods or even in the cars menu I should be turning on? Thanks for any help
