Does This Look Like It Has $2000 Worth Of Damage?
G6ET8U replied to G6ET8U's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
I have stock power... if you read my sig the only mod's I have done performance wise is K&N and cold air intake... And being a very early series 1 they all have/had a problem with the way the driveshafts were manufactured by Dana Spicer who make the diff's for Ford and as they break they are replaced under warranty... Jack -
I was gonna say the same thing there Dagabond... that is exactly what it looks like, well not only that but it's f'n sad as well.... The person who owns that car should rip out one of their arms and beat themselves up with it... Jack

Does This Look Like It Has $2000 Worth Of Damage?

I think I am starting to get over the disappointment of it now as I reckon that is hilarious... One of my mates said to me that one day I will be able to laugh about it, and today might just be that first day Jack -
K&N panel filter is about $100 depending on where you go. Will NOT void any part of your warranty. An advantage of the K&N is that they are reuseable so you can clean them when required and put them back in. They help the car breathe a little better, I noticed the difference when I put mine in with the cold air intake... Jack Edit- This is the (OTRCAI) over the radiator cold air intake and also a picture of the filter in place and what the box looks like...

If you really want to find the money... you will. I know for me it's from hard work and long hours at my job... Or for others it may be that they are beating up on the redraw facility on their home loan... who knows... Jack

Does This Look Like It Has $2000 Worth Of Damage?

I was considering claiming it on my insurance... but the excess is $1250 ($450 driver/$800 for the car) but I will lose my Rating 1 and see premiums rise because of the claim so decided against it... While it is at the panel beaters I am getting the front bumper resprayed and a new spoilerless boot done as well... so atleast it will look the goods when I get it back... basically whole car is getting resprayed bar the roof and passenger doors... what a kick in the teeth only a few days before christmas... To quote Days of Thunder 'rubbin's racing son' Car goes in on January 3rd... will post pics when I get it back... Jack -
The Yellow 'phoon's look HOT as... Nice one... and what plans do you have for it? Enjoy it mate!!! Jack

My car was damaged badly on Sunday while dropping it off to get fixed after breaking a drive shaft... Can you pick it? The open drivers door was pushed back beyond 90 degrees whilst pushing it away by the towie and myself from the tow truck... the open drivers door hit an upright for the awning it was being placed under... because the vehicle was unhitched from the tow truck and not under the care of the driver at the time it is considered to be my fault... a very expensive lesson I can assure you. Damage is as follows... In total $1900.00 to fix the door only, needs new hinges, new slide, new door, panel beating on the pillar to straighten and work around the quarter panel and respraying front quarter/drivers door/back door... A lesson can be learnt here... don't attempt to steer your car from the outside with the drivers door open... It totally ruined what was already a crap Sunday because of the driveshaft... Thanks must also go out to AdamXR6T for his help on the day. Thanks mate!! Jack

It sounds sad now that I say it out loud (on the forum... which is silent )... but the black carbon bonnet, against the (TEAM) phantom paint and the black wheels I reckon would look very different and also brilliant... Or am I so close to being a tranny I need to step away from my car for a minute or two? Jack
-
Ok, Ok... I will do my best not to become a tranny Jeff... Jack

No bashing here at all... I have a couple of mates who crossed over to the darkside, good blokes too... I think they like my car more than I do... Jack

Progress Update: How Is BCL's Car Going?
G6ET8U replied to PASHEN's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
I too have been for a run in Simon's ute with the current set up and MY GOD... what an unbelievable car, it pulls like a 14yo school boy. He demonstrated to me how his car can go at 40kmh in 6th (manual) and pull away cleanly consistently... any gear, any time... I was just blown away by his car. I only got the chance to look at your car Brian and had the if only's about my car... Good luck with getting everything you want out of it... Jack -
I can't say I have any problems with the police since I have had my car... I seem to get more nod's from them than anything else... lowered on 20" inch rims and all... They like to sit at the top of the street I work in (Hallam, VIC) and get every man and his dog for no seatbelt/speeding but I never have any issues what so ever... just as I said the polite nod. WTF? In my old Senator I used to get hassled all the time... Too loud which it was not (EPA cert to prove it), too low which it was not... it was standard height for god sake... but my low XR on 20's get nod's from the coppers... Go figure Jack
-
Good work mate... got to be happy about that!!!! Glad to hear it's back on the road. Jack
-
I never thought of calling them 'tranny's' but that is f*ckin so funny... Will be using that from now on Just to add to the thread though... my previous car was a real HSV 5.7l Senator and the amount of people who referred to their cars as Clubsports or Senators when they clearly were not used to give me the ... I want a carbon bonnet and the only one I have been able to find so far is an XR8 one... so does that make me a tranny if I get one of those? Jack
-
Cheers jetmir... The one's I took in the dark just before don't really do it justice, and the car is dirty too which doesn't help either... Jack

Merry Christmas from me too guys... glad I have discovered this forum in the last couple of months... never felt so welcome anywhere. Please be safe on the roads, I drive for a living and most people already aren't listening... Hope you get everything you always wanted for christmas Enjoy Jack

I was thinking of that already but wasn't sure... I think I will email them and see what they say... I have a bit of (very much unintended) panel beating to be done over the next few weeks so I thought I would put it out to the forum to see what the go was... must admit though it looks the goods, especially against the phantom paint work... Cheers Jack Edit- I have emailed them with regard to legality, availability, cracking with excessive heat, what warranty they provide and whether the price on the net includes shipping to my front door... Will provide a response to the forum once I get an answer to the email... Jack

Can be found here on the bottom of the page... Not bad... Jack

While out and about on Sunday I saw an XR8 with a carbon bonnet (puts on rice proof flame suit) and it looked the goods... Anyone else seen these? How much? Something with some fluting might be the go to try and keep the underbonnet temps down on my XR6T... Jack
