  1. Yeah cool im pretty sure water will get ya there mate.. I cant comment on it with e85 as iv never heard of it being done.. im sure it wouldnt hurt but I just like the ease of water with 98.. Ill see how I go tomorrow things could change haha
  2. Yeah probably about 40% meth 60% water.. The whole tune has to be redone with the W.I. of course but should be able to see 20+psi comfortably with 98.. with the kit activated over about 10psi.. Until E85 is everywhere I cant cop using it again.. and with the differences between the pump varieties(ethanol content, seasonal blends etc) I dont have confidence in that either..
  3. Im probably gunna go a Snow Performance Stage 2 Kit.. bout $550 landed and pretty easy to self install..then have it as a Level 3 tune thru the X-cal.. Have it cut in at about 10psi.. more boost more timing simple mod fora lot more reliable power.. Iv had an E85 car b4 and its a right P.I.T.A !!!! Couldnt handle the draining tanks, Jerry cans flashing tunes etc.. W.I. is the business iv seen it first hand with a few cars and its benefits are much better than an e85 tune and with zero dramas.. A 4L tank will last a few months for about $3-4 worth of meth.. too easy :D
  4. Engine bay complete and heading to the shop tomorrow for Surgie + Injectors install and Dyno tune Pix of New Billet MTA 750 and Pac Performance Ported rear housing with milled Flapper.. Also my made up stealth Surge Tank kit and 044.. Also my self constructed 4" muffler delete connecting to factory crossover pipe.. Hoping for 500hp for now.. on 98.. Stage 2 later on in the year will include true-Track, box strengthening and tune.. and Water Injection
  5. Ahh ok thanx a lot Dragons.. that's a little BIT easier to swallow :/ I still dont understand it as the "tuner" needs a dongle to install tunes so really they are just selling units :/ I cant believe they still hold it over our head and essentially "own" the right to say what u do or dont do with your own box.. As the tuners are the only real access owners and they sell units for them I dont see the issue as long as the tuners dont go using 1 box and loading it on heaps of cars, which they would be silly to do anyways as they dont get a sell outta the customer.. MY apologies for my mini rant as iv never come across something like this..
  6. Hope someone can help me here understand this POS concept of having "lives" in an $800 investment(most rediculous idea re programmable ecu's piggybacks etc iv ever heard of).. SO ? If I buy a new Xcal 3 and have a custom tune installed (actually 3 individual tunes) can I return to stock then retune(overwrite) that "life" and still be on 1 life ?? so contunually modifying that same life ? Or if I have another tune done down the track do I have to use up another "life" again making that 2 strikes ?? Also can I reset/revive the lives by sending it anywhere and paying a fee ?? sorry iv tried to read up but just cant get my head around this rediculous concept.. :/
  7. That's the reason I chose this wonderful platform Steve haha
  8. Yeah mate I dont muck around hahaha I like to do things once and properly I think id spent 5K withing the first week I have owned ot LOL.. its only cause of the delays from suppliers that its not finished already.. Its only on its 2nd tank of fuel since iv owned it and been off the road longer than on LOL I have a friend who works at Hi-Torque so they will be taking care of it tune wise.. Just waiting on the Turbo which is due any day so should be finished within the fortnight..
  9. Ok mate will do.. Located on the Gold Coast.. Just waiting on the Turbo to come back and then shes ready to Dyno in the next fortnight.. pretty excited.. I might turn this into a build thread sorta so heres the mods iv done already.. Stage 1.. hopefully the last'ish one lol MTA Spec F6 Turbo. Brand New cartridge with .7 front cover 4" inlet, billet wheel, and 38mm flapper mod and ported stock rear housing.. TurboSmart 12psi Wastegate Actuator.. Process West Stage 2 Cooler and Piping Kit.. w/ 3" throttle body elbow.. X-Force 4" Dump to 3.5" in mild steel with Factory Style Tip.. Process West Street Airbox Kit modified to accept the factory snorkel for more cold air.. Self constructed 4" muffler delete.. Metal BOV.. 044 Surge Tank Kit using self sourced components.. 1000cc Injectors.. Lowered with SSL Kings and Monroe Shocks.. X-Cal3 and Custom Tune (probably will do box tune while im at it) New plugs and filters with HPR10 Oil.. Transmax Z Tranny fluid.. TruTrac and Diff bushes to come in a month or so after tuning.. So yeah that's it for now would have been done already but waited and been mucked around by a few suppliers already :/ Hopefully tuned in the next fortnight and want 500hp but will be a daily so not really chasing mega HP figures..
  10. Yeah iv decided against it Mats. Just gave it a good clean out to clear the carbon flake buildup and its goin back on..
  11. Yeah mate X Telstra car and all's great with it.. A few small bush scratches on passenger side but will def buff out. im getting this sorted when finished modding.. Was cheapest by a long way for an '11 so I thought maybe had dramas somewhere but it all has checked out.. Currently being ripped apart for some major mods Should be finished and tuned up in the next fortnight.. Absolutely love it .. so far hahaha :D
  12. Whilst my turbo is off and being flowed I was wanting to do some work on the stock manifold.. Sure its been done but wanna know if its really worth it..?? The EVO guys have some great results with this as a great alternative to tuned length runner manifolds.. Im not after 100s of KWs but is there any/much performance gains to be had.. Anyone have any do's and dont do's when opening it up ? pix or results they can share ? Or should I just go nuts with the die grinder hahaha
  13. http://vpw.com.au/Category/Index/164956 Iv been researching these the last week and am going with these guys.. They are a much cheaper alternative to the ProFlow ones.. which u have to also add a pushlock hose tail to that fitting.. Its $15 vs $50 for the ProFlow aliminium alternatives.. and yes the 5/16 female with 3/8 hosetail fits the 8mm od hardlines and a 3/8 hose which is the common hose used in surgetank kits..
  14. not sure about using them for a launch but im sure it would be ok to hold the car a bit better while stalling up to avoid push and breaking the beams.. theres also an old trick to plumb them up backwards and lock OUT the rear brakes for burnouts and not put stress on the rear brakes and rear of the car in the burnout... I have a unit for sale mate if your interested.. Its a B&M Roll Control kit with the fittings included too.. I reckon the best way to do it in a nice car if u dont wanna actually "fit" it would be run the switch/button on a curly cable and have it loose in the cabin so u can hold it while still holding the wheel.. Use a connector under the dash or glove box maybe and take it out when your not using it.. Better for legality purposes too.. A few mates have done this with transbrakes and they work a treat.. Just launch and then drop the button/switch and continue the pass.. It owes me about $140 with the fittings id sell it for $100.. Its still Brand new and never used or fitted.. Its been sitting here for a while and iv sold other car so its urs if ya want it.. cheers..
  15. Yeah thought that Willo.. Prob not for me as a daily then cheers..
  16. Where have u got the reg for $80 mate ?? The link on here from 034 with blueprinting puts them at about $120 after postage etc.. Is there an Australian stockist of them..?? from what I can see they are a Vw/Audi item and look very similar to this .and plenty cheaper here.. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/290809125216?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 landed for $55ish..
  17. thanx guys.. looks like the Nittos are top dog for a reason then Its just they rated the Mickeys very well for wear especially so I was thinking for the extra few $$ it might be wort it as u wont be changing them as often.. Is there a big difference between the Invos and the NT05s in the Nittos ?? more as an all rounder but want them to hang on when I give it some..
  18. Anyone out there used these Tyres at all ? From my readings all u guys on here are pretty hellbent on Nitto only as the ONLY recommended performance tyre to hold any sort of power above 350kw.. Im pretty sure they are a new tyre but from research and reviews from the states they have VERY good reports and feedback in all aspects (wet/dry grip, wear, noise etc) They seem to me like a very good option, possibly better, to the Nittos and coming from a drag racing background id trust Mickeys with pretty much anything they produce to do the business.. Prices in Aust are low-mid $300s so they might be something to consider.. plenty of relevant sizes too.. Id like to try them as my new performance tyres and would love some feedback if they perform on our car type.. Cheers..
  19. Nah not as yet mate if its only being used as a lift pump essentially I think it will be fine.. the 044 will only be used on pump so I think a 2ish L surge tank setup will be adequate.. Reading thru the topics people have only upgraded it as insurance and sometimes overkill..
  20. Cool thanx toads.. I can see that in the pix now looking at it.. I might open it up a few mm, it cant hurt I dont think.. and it can be tuned around the new flow on the dyno no problems im sure..
  21. Guys can u ghetto drill out the factory FPR to help increase the return line flow ?? (obviously u can but is it a sensible thing to do) ?? Running a 044 surge kit with wiring.. 1000cc injectors.. Mind u the car will have a FULL custom Dyno done when this is complete..and be tuned accordingly.. The afore mentioned drop in 4bar reg looks good but for $150ish landed from the states and $175ish from a site sponsor is a bit rich.. The TboSmart reg adapter and using an aftermarket Reg is a wayyy cheaper alternative but I honestly dont want to go down this route if I dont have to..
  22. Yeah Nick its a refreshing buy after a decent search.. Hopefully all runs smooth(ish) from here though
  23. OK guys I joined the club today FINALLY after a long search and a few stuff arounds :/ Ended up with a 2011 Silhouette with Cashmere model with 70Ks for under $23K.. Still under New car warranty for a few months so ill sort out any issues in the coming months before I begin serious modding.. Quite happy with the purchase rather than a 2008 which I was mainly searching for, for the coupla K cheaper.. I can see this getting outta hand VERY quickly :D lol Im familar with the search function so hopefully I dont have to ask TOO many questions haha
  24. Awesome Thanx Gaz.. It will never be "flogged" but id like the thing to hold together when I do feel the need to mash the go pedal.. I have a car on E85 atm and its a PITA allround.. regardless of its benefits.. This will be a strictly 98car as power is well achievable with pump gas..
  25. Cool thanx for the advice so far guys.. Iv built countless other cars and always said I wont do it again but when buying anything ya really have to be wary of how its been treated.. Low Ks and lightly modded seems to be the way to go at this time.. I will def check service history for anything that can help me in seeing what condition its been kept in.. and by saying 400kw I mean pretty much Max power I will want out of it (I have other toys for the strip).. so if the blocks take 400 reliably then that's great.. Also is there a "magic number" where things start to go pear shaped ?? cause id like to keep it getting to that.. I mean boxes blow, diffs bushes go, tailshafts and stuff like that and it all goes downhill with regards to reliability and finding weaknesses.. ???
