  1. Hi XXXR6T, I have not taken it in to check yet. I do mostly city driving with cruise control totally off, so I'll mention it when I take the car next in for something critically wrong or the next scheduled service, whichever comes first.
  2. Hi replicant, It was steep but come to think about it, I think there were some bendy bits that I was coasting down. But I didn't think they were that bendy, more like wide curves. I don't think they would've invoked the DSC. However, the comment earlier that if you go above a threshold speed that the cruise control goes OFF set might be the case here, if that behaviour is true. I might try an experiment next time I see it happen and retrace that stretch of road to see if it's repeatable.
  3. Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their cruise control. On a recent long trip, twice I dropped out of Cruise Control Set (set to 100km/h) whilst going down hill in my BF XR6T. They were steeper declines than what you would see around suburban Melbourne both times. I thought I was still travelling with cruise control on, but on checking the speedo, was finding myself going faster than I expected and Cruise Control was still displayed on the dash, but it was not Set (I.e. ON). Pressing the Reset button on the steering wheel controls put Set back ON in cruise control (which therefore regulated my speed to 100km/h again). I think all up, I've experienced it 3 times in my BF XR6T now. The first time it happened, I thought nothing of it - that maybe I had forgotten to put Cruise Control Set ON, but these last 2 times were worrying because they could have lead to a speeding ticket or something worse. Now I have 2 theories which might explain this. Theory 1 The braking initiated by the cruise control in an attempt to bring in the speed back to tolerance on the down hill runs accidently triggered the cruise control regulation to go OFF - like when you tap the brakes it takes cruise control regulation OFF. That is worrying. Theory 2 Because I have a tendency to keep my right foot near the accelerator pedal resting on the side wall even with cruise control set ON (you never know when you may need to take evasive action on the road and the last thing I want is for the car to keep moving forward not completely under my control). Maybe I accidently tapped the accelerator or (absent mindedly) tapped the brake pedal whilst going down hill? I don't think the accelerator would affect things because I've noticed I can tap the accelator lightly without taking cruise control regulation OFF. I've noticed you have to use the accelerator quite purposely to have it take cruise control regulation OFF. But the brake pedal is another story. Just a light tap will take cruise control regulation OFF, but I am 90% sure I did not touch the brake pedal on those 2 times when cruise control regulation went OFF. Well, what do you think?
  4. Hi Guys, Last spot for the afternoon session has been tentatively reserved for PozzE (pending deposit). So the afternoon session is now full Thank you.
  5. Hi Guys, Updated the first post.
  6. Good ones so far Guys. But I want to keep it friendly and humorous.
  7. Thanks Cro. Just wetting people's appetite for later this year
  8. Dammit Lumpy, you have the gift of the gab!
  9. Hi Guys, I just drove up to Albury with 2 Expensive Daewoo CV8 Monaros and they were flinging Ford snipes at me front and back (now why did I loan 'em the CB radios again ). Examples: "We'll bring a tow rope for you because you'll be a bit slow getting out of Melbourne." "Make sure you bring a tool box with you." "You missing an exhaust pipe?" I actually wanted to post this up before I went to Albury, but forgot to, so I was a bit come-back challenged on the road. Anyway, I can still email them both after the event So, looking for some great come-backs / stabs. Please post up or direct me to a good link of them
  10. Well, back from the Snowy Mountains and tell you what, what a cruise (albeit - one Ford XR6 Turbo ). Here are some pics for those who have not been there yet and thinking of doing it later this year. I also did the Murray River as well before heading up to the Snowy Mountains, and there are some nice twisty bits around that area. I really enjoyed the trip! 11. Hi Guys, If there are no takers for the morning session, I'm planning on not reserving any places on the morning session for us. Please post up or PM me if you want to go on the morning session, otherwise, I'll confirm to Driver Dynamics that we don't want any places on the morning session. Please let me know if you'd like to do the morning session by Friday 11 August this week. The afternoon session will still definitely be running. Thank you.
  12. Hi TUFXRT6, Bain told me he won't be able to make it, so as of right now, there is 1 spot left available in the afternoon session. Here's the current list for the afternoon session on Sunday 27 August. Skid Pan List 1. TUFXRT6 - XR6T (confirmed - paid deposit) 2. flukeyluke - XR6T (confirmed - paid deposit) 3. Dave_Fiuli - XR6T (confirmed - paid deposit) 4. Goldbullet - XR6T (deposit on its way) 5. shockF6 - F6 Typhoon (to pay deposit) 6. (Last Spot Available) So looking for one more person for the afternoon session to make it a full FordXR6Turbo.com session (otherwise we may have share the session with a Expensive Daewoo or Skyline or whatever joining us to make up the numbers ) Come on Guys, one more Ford to make it an all Ford affair!
  13. Can we book yet?? I see there is another driving day also on offer ← Hi Goldbullet and TUFXRT6, Here's the current list for the afternoon session on Sunday 27 August. Maybe / Yet to Pay Deposit List 1. shockF6 - F6 Typhoon (reserved PM1) 2. Goldbullet - XR6T (reserved PM2) 3. TUFXRT6 - XR6T (reserved PM3) 4. flukeyluke - XR6T (reserved PM4) 5. Bain - XR6T (reserved PM5 if in the country at the time?) 6. Dave_Fiuli - XR6T (reserved PM6) I think TUFXRT6 may be referring to the morning session on the same day that I thought I'd open up to take up any additional demand for places? There are 6 places in the afternoon session (which is fully reserved now albeit pending deposits being paid) and there are now 6 places in the morning session on the same day which are currently vacant. Sorry for the delay in actually taking your deposits for your individual places. The day has been confirmed by Driver Dynamics though, so it's not like the date will change. I'll have the deposit taking sorted out next week and will PM you with requests for your deposits.
  14. Open for dates for the next cruise. I was thinking Flowerdale/Kinglake would be nice. Adam recently went through Flowerdale and confirmed it was a good road for a cruise - scenic and some curvy bits. Since we have the Skid Pan Day in August, perhaps sometime in September?
  15. Hi Guys, Seeing I can't use my car for the Skid Pan Day, is there anyone I can share a car with for the Skid Pan Day and I am happy to pay for part of their cost to do the Skid Pan Day (so they don't have to pay the full $120 but something less). Please don't post up that you can, as I don't want to make it public domain that I am sharing your car. Please just PM me instead and we'll talk further about it. Hoping someone can help out
  16. Hi Fat-Tony, The morning session has just opened up and if Bain can't make the afternoon session (because of work committments), it could be yours! Please let me know.
  17. Hi Guys, Just wanted to bring your attention to some changes for the Skid Pan Day as listed in the 1st post. 1. Opened up more places by making the morning session available. There are now 12 places available instead of just 6 places. 2. Unfortunately, NO SPECTATORS allowed. Only drivers and their cars per session at the skid pan venue. 3. If you're in the morning session, you can't hang around to watch the afternoon session and vice versa. But the drivers of both sessions can have a lunch together at 12:30pm if they want. 4. Video and photography is allowed 5. If I get to be at the venue, I'll be providing BBQ snags, bread and coke/water on me for lunch. So, looking for more participants!
  18. I remember reading about the one you did last year. Also heard a story about it as well I'd be keen to find out more when you decide to run it again later this year. Thanks for the tip about Yarrangobilly Caves and thermal spa, Cro. I'll be packing the swimming togs and plan to spend maybe 1 to 2 hours there on the way through. I don't think I'll be heading through Thredbo etc this time round. I've been up that way in Summer though and it was spectacular (walked to top of Mt Kosciuszko and also walked to top of Mt Jagungal - separate bushwalks over a decade ago).
  19. Hi Guys, I was wondering, at the moment I was only planning on having the afternoon session on Sunday with hopefully only 6 drivers (to maximise skid pan time), but Driver Dynamics have told me that they can run a 8:30am-12:30pm Skid Pan session that same Sunday for another 6 drivers. As there looks like there might be more demand would anyone be interested in doing a morning session that Sunday 27 August 8:30am-12:30pm? If not, then maybe we could run another afternoon session another day for those who may miss out on Sunday 27 August. Any thoughts on this too?
  20. Hi Goldbullet, Here's the prospective list so far: Skid Pan Day Confirmed (Paid Deposit) List 1. EvilDaifu - XR6T Maybe / Waiting on Date Confirmation / Yet to Pay Deposit List 1. shockF6 - F6 Typhoon 2. Goldbullet - XR6T 3. stang - XR6T 4. TUFXRT6 - XR6T 5. flukeyluke - XR6T 6. Bain - XR6T I've also received confirmation from Driver Dynamics that Sunday 27 August is definitely available. Unfortunately, our first date of 20 Aug was not available. I changed the first post to show the new date. Hope this date is still good for those interested.
  21. Hi Cro, Thanks for that advice. Just hope I can avoid the snow and ice and get some good scenic views along the way. Are you guys going to do a Snowy Mountains cruise later this year?
  22. Hi TUFXRT6, The Murcotts Performance Driving course was in that price bracket. I think it covered more driving techniques as their demo video showed a trainer driving around a race circuit advising what gears to change to and how to brake. This skid pan day is focussed on controlling your car whilst it is skidding.
  23. Hi stang, I've proposed a date of Sunday 20 August (1pm-5pm) to see if that would be suitable for you guys. And I need to wait to hear back from Driver Dynamics to see if the skid pan is available that day as well. It may not be available. It's a bit chicken and egg but gotta start somewheres. But they did give me the impression that we could name our date. However, when I spoke with them, they were on the road to Brisbane so I have to wait until they get back to Melbourne next week to see if the date is okay.
  24. Hi Dagabond, Driver Dynamics said they don't like drawing spectators to the skid pan sessions, probably from a safety perspective and to keep the hoon element away. And that's why they don't want the actual venue, date and times made public domain (but I will be PMing the venue to those that confirm participation). However, I will enquire to see how many spectators can come along assuming they have some relationship to the paying drivers and not just strangers off the street. Their website is quite specific in that they charge $120 per driver. So, if they have 6 drivers, they can run the session and I'm guessing it does not matter if there is more than 1 driver per car, so long as they are paying drivers.
