Funniest thread I've read in ages! Hey Rob, at least you gave it a go mate, more than I've done. Oh hey, I'm running a Wogedit too, and I'm hoping my engine don't go bang in a hurry!

Lowering Your Xr6t
Cobra, I hear what you're saying mate. Those same problems with the larger rims (plus the extortionate/exponential increase in the cost of (decent) tyres by going up just 1") were the main reasons I chose to go for 18" rims. I dunno what the spring rates are but am surprised to hear that the King Springs are softer than stock. Purely from the feel of the car, I would say that the Kings are certainly stiffer than the factory items, but without being overly harsh. One of the more critical (in a good way) members of the forum who was against lowering cars was very impressed with the way my car drove when he took it for a spin. The springs seem to have settled over time and perhaps firmed up the ride a little more, but it's still very acceptable for daily driving and my wife has no issues with the ride quality. The King Springs are also progressive rate springs. Also, I agree with the sentiment that SSSL springs don't exist - unless they're a special order or something, 'cos they're certainly not listed in the catalogue.

Lowering Your Xr6t
Congrats on the new car mate. There's a few options but most people here seem to go for the King Springs superlow kit. From memory I think it drops the front by 20-30mm and the back by about 50-60mm for a 'level sill' effect. I had the King Springs installed on my T a while back, see pics below - note that it has since settled a bit more so looks a bit lower again. The rims on my car are 18", so depending on your own tastes/circumstances it could look better with 19" or larger wheels. Springs can be had for around $220 on eBay or other sources and you should be able to get them fitted for about $200. I paid $400 for my springs and fitting. Hope this helps.

Flash Tune Installed
Everyone's right about putting in the 98RON fuel, but you should also heed jordak's advice and regap the plugs. This is all a bare minimum. Custom tune is definitely the best option for the long term. Good luck.

Whats A Good I/c Option
Cool, thanks guys. Let the negotiations with the Minister for Finance begin...

Davinci Code - Saw It
Wouldn't have expected anything else. Doesn't mean I won't watch it though!! I've heard it's a top movie too. As for hating movies from NZ, Lord of the Rings, say no more - NZ can rest its laurels on that trilogy forever more!

Whats A Good I/c Option
I know you're supposed to get the car retuned if you fit a bigger I/c, but what actually happens if you don't (and assuming you're already running Wogedit)? On a completely stock (non-edited) car I assume it goes into limp mode, but on a car already running edit?

Fellow Parents...
Same. And I think that that's a great start and needs to be encouraged/fostered.

Where Can I Get A Bmc Air Filter From In Sydney?
I found the BMC filters quite hard to source myself. AWC (see this link) sell it for $176, which makes Buf-Phoon's offer look pretty attractive. From memory I paid a bit less than that (I got mine from AWC but it was a little cheaper back then and postage was only $5) but I think you'll find that the BMC filters command a slightly higher premium than the K&N's for some reason. Good luck!

Fellow Parents...
I agree with the others Alex, wouldn't worry too much at this stage. All kids will develop at a different rate and in different ways. Our eldest is now starting to sound half coherent, her younger sister is still at the babbling stage. But, for example, for ages and ages Olivia insisted on calling a flower "sha". Obviously nobody but us could understand what a "sha" was and, like you with your son and "crab", she inisisted a "sha" was what it was and no amount of coaxing by us was going to change that until she was good and ready! She now says something like "fla va", which is much closer and almost comprehensible to outsiders. Similarly, she called herself "ya ya" for ages, and it's now something like "lee via". I'm assuming she'll improve over time but don't really wanna rush it - her attempts at speech are just too cute!!

Air Filter -k&n Or Bmc
I looked into this myself a while back and came to the conclusion that the BMC was probably the better of the two. But to really notice a difference I think you need to be after a helluva lotta power - I certainly noticed no discernable difference when fitted to my car aprt, of course, from the induction noise! Oh, and the BMC was a bit of a bugger to fit as the panel edges were thicker than stock and required a bit of effort to squeeze the airbox shut.

Ip Home Telephone
Aaron, yeah, I did get the Belkin modem that was packaged as part of the iiNet deal. At the time (and I did some research), there were no modems available with VOIP built in that weren't already linked to some ISP. I could have gone for a modem and separate VOIP unit but didn't want two boxes - it would also have been more expensive. Cro, that's really good to know, cheers mate. I'll try changing my VOIP service over to Port 2 as well - but why the hell would that make all the difference?! But mate, if it works I'll be a happy man - those bloody dropouts are giving me the

Ip Home Telephone
Just my 2c worth. I'm also with iiNet and have the VOIP service as part of my bundle. Still have to pay line rental but a) calls on your normal land line are cheaper than Telstra (and you get to keep your existing number if you want to) and b) VOIP calls are even cheaper. For example, any 'capital' city to 'capital' city STD calls are only 10c, untimed, any time. Makes calling my family in Brissy and Sydney (from Canberra) very cheap indeed. So I have a normal land line number, which is listed in the White Pages, and a separate VOIP number which you can hand out to selected people. You can, of course, use the land line, VOIP phone and the internet all at the same time if you wish. Sometimes it's handy having two phones, and the VOIP phone is just an ordinary cordless phone we had lying around which simply plugs straight into the back of the VOIP enabled modem. Easy as. The one issue I have, and it's a pretty major one, is the reliability of the VOIP service. Whilst I can tolerate the voice quality being a little less than the land line, I hate the fact that it seems to just drop out once in a while. Most times it's okay, but occasionally it will just cut you off mid conversation, which can be very frustrating and will then cost you another 10c to make another call!

When Will They Get It Right?
Oi. All I know is that the TC lights flickers (yes, yes, in the dry! ) so I assume it's doing its job. Have you seriously provoked your T to really test the TC?!?! BTW, I still intend to go for a ride in your beast one of these days...
-
When Will They Get It Right?
I've experienced the same TC problems in the past. I also had a theory that some people reckoned was wrong, but I still think it may be on the money. I have the latest CAPA generic tunes and, so far, the TC seems to be working 'normally' ie under hard acceleration in certain circumstances, the TC light will flash on and off (indicating that it's working/limiting power/whatever) and then goes off again. So far so good. But I haven't really 'provoked' the car for a long time now. My theory is that when really provoked, there will be too much power/torque going through for the TC to be able to handle, under which circumstances it will disable itself. I still reckon that, even though my TC seems to be working normally now, I could get it to disable by doing something silly and really getting up it. It used to disable itself on my Wogtune, but I reckon that was because it was too much for the poor thing to handle. Although Envy-T's experience seems to conflict my theory?

Typhoon Style Intake
Nick, you can't even see it unless you look hard. It's just an extra intake into the existing airbox that leads under the pax side headlight - gotta open the bonnet to see it. From the 'front end', you wouldn't even know it was there.

Updated Pics Of My T
Woah, now that looks absolutely A1 sh1thot Rob, very, very nice indeed. Nice choice of wheels (my number 1 choice, but I couldn't afford them so went for the poorer man's Drift R's instead ) and that quad zorst really looks the part, would love to hear them. Yup, mate, I'm definitely green with envy.

The Outcomes Of Valve Springs & Pwr I/c
Yup, damn fine result there Dingah, I'm really glad it all worked out so well for you in the end. It must be a huge relief to finally have the sort of power you were after with the reliability and fuel economy you were hoping for, well done for persevering!

Problem After Capa Flash:
Last time I heard, your car wasn't stock. Damn nice results though (I'm trying to picture those 'attached' graphs ), must be a lot of fun to drive, well done to the boys at Nizpro again.

Typhoon Style Intake
I'll just reaffirm most of the views above. I've heard the SS Inductions kit is not only waaaay overpriced, but it's also of very poor quality and doubtful benefit. As others have said, now that the 2nd 'Phoon style CAI is stock on the new BF T's, I think it's an unrestricted part. It may be a little dearer than the XR8 snorkel route, but IMHO looks much better and much more like factory - hell, for the new BF's, it IS factory!! For the record, I also used Kaine's measurements and can confirm that they're spot on!

Few Questions
This might not be much help 'cos I didn't do any of it myself but I've got 6.5" splits in the front of my BA. Apparently they're not a probelm at all to fit, but as TL said, I think the installers had to make up some spacer to fit them properly (install didn't cost a fortune so it can't have been too tricky/time consuming to do). I also had decent sound deadening material put in to get the most out of the speakers. One thing though, I had to get the 'slim' version of the speaker (Focal 165 V Slims) to fit as mounting depth became a bit of an issue. Focal now also make 5" x 7" speakers, which I have replaced my back ones with (way better than the stock items but obviously not as good as their splits).

Mobil 1?
Quite right, much better for your engine to change your oil every, say, 7,500kms with a cheaper brand than to change it every 15,000kms with a top shelf brand. And for the price of Mobil 1's 0W-40 you can buy a lot of other (still very decent) oil!

Which Sports Car Are You?
Porsche Boxster - You're stylish, nimble, and good-looking. When it comes to having fun, there are few who can surpass you. And yet, you suffer from a lingering inferiority complex. Maybe it's because you have an older relative who is always in the limelight? Not too far off the mark actually.
-
Mobil 1?
If you use the lubricant recommendation tool on the Mobil website, they specify either the 0W-40 or 5W-50 Mobil 1 variants for the XR6T. And yes, refill capacity is a whopping 7 litres.

Problem After Capa Flash:
I thought that, with the latest generation of CAPA generic tunes, there was little advantage to getting a custom tune any more (assuming you have a stock car)? I was under the impression that the new generic tunes were about as good as you could get now?
